So my 5870 has failed after just over 3 years, laptop will only turn on after taking it out.

Any chance of a compatible replacement being available in the UK? I have a w86cu bought from (the now defunct) Kobalt.

Any help would be much appreciated, no luck on my initial google hunting.

    Thanks

umm, I'd imagine there are cheaper options like GTX560M, 570M and 580M since it's mxm 3b. Heck, I think a HM vbios 7970M might fit into his laptop and it's worlds apart from 5870M.

7970 is eol so will be very hard to find now. i think whats available now is being kept for warranty repairs by suppliers.

True and mostly true; some units are still up for grabs but many are either low or out of stock by now.
