Hey guys, so I've had my Sager NP1950 since about January, and I've been having a problem that's been developing for the past month or so.
So I was gaming, and my mouse stopped working. I unplugged it and replugged it in, and it started working again.
Then it happened again, and again, and now it barely stays on when plugged in. So I thought it was my mouse, but then I tried another and its having the same problem. Its happening with both usb 3's and the usb 2.
Is this hardware or software? I still have parts and labor warranty, so I could get it fixed but I rather not send it in, because I use my laptop a lot haha.
Thanks for any help!

About this... I purchased my NP9150EM about a year ago and had it rma'd last week for this exact issue. It turned out that the Right USB 2.0 port burnt out/shorted over time.
I believe there is a short life span on these USB ports hardware wise. -
Ahh, so it probably is mechanical. Right, I should probably get that worked out then. Why would all three of mine stop working? that's why I thought it could have been software.
Know anyway I could check for sure?
Thanks! -
have you tried reloading the driver. can only find the usb3 on sager Software Upgrade

as for usb2, u gotta reinstall the chipset drivers or windows itself

well the intel chipset driver is easy, just look up the most current version on intel.com and update ur current one
just not sure if (in case this IS a driver related issue) the usb2 drivers are provided by the chipset driver or windows itself.

Install the intel chipset drivers with the '-overall' switch and it should force the installation of all the drivers including USB2

If the problem has been progressive then it may not be the driver. The ports aren't dirty or have any kind of corrosion on the pins, do they?
Hopefully it's just the driver. -
Yeah I think it must the be USB's... Sigh. They seem to look completely clean and intact.
I tried to install the USB3 and the chipset drivers, but nothing really seems to be happening. I don't have much experience with drivers... I'm just downloading them from sager and clicking them once they're done downloading, right? And clicking through to the install of course.
So I guess I need to rma it, right? I know this varies through who you got it from, but whats the basis of rmaing something? I've never done this before -

Tough break! Yeah, regardless of your reseller, the system should go back to the manufacturer, which would be Sager. When you contact them, see if they have any other final suggestions before you resort to sending it to them.

Thanks Prostar. But the reseller I got it from has a warranty, so I may just go through them.

Hmm, quick update. My friend came over with his mac, and his mac mouse... It works. I was having problems with another usb mouse and my iphone at one point, so that's why I assumed it was the USB's... Now I'm really questioning myself.
Maybe the mouse drivers then? -

Can you continue to use the Mac mouse for a short while, just to verify? If the problem is intermittent, it may arise with your friend's mouse, as well. Is this only happening with wireless mice?
