Wut do? I don't want to resort to RMA because I'm not even sure if it's covered for one dead pixel. I've heard of software fixes that flash the screen with multiple colors and the like. Do they work?

    Dead (black)?
I got one stuck pixel, it was white.

I tried software solutions, tried pressing it and none of these worked.

My warranty covered and I got a new screen, but mine's not from Sager, it's from a Brazillian reseller.

If your pixel is really dead (black) you can't do anything to save it.

Most defective pixel can't be fixed by software, despite what they say. A+ grade panel is a perfect screen with no defective pixel while A- has 2~3.

If they don't let you RMA the screen only, return the laptop. I would not take a no for answer. They shouldn't install a sub-grade panel to begin with

Where is the defective pixel located on the screen? I believe that the standard dead pixel policy does not allow for any defective pixels within the middle quadrant. If yours is, you should definitely contact your reseller about it.

What type of screen did you get w/ the laptop? Std 1600x900, 1920x1080 Gloss, 1920x1080 Gloss/Matte 95% gamut?

    1920x1080 gloss, bought from xoticpc.com

It's at the bottom left, about 2" up and out from the bottom and left edge respectively.

Standard dead pixel policy states that there has to be 5 or more dead pixels anywhere on the screen in order to get it covered by warranty. OR like Madkid stated, if it's in the middle area of the screen.

Even though you might be out of luck, I'd still contact xoticpc and see if they can do anything about it. Good luck! Let us know what happens.

If it's still within the 30 days then you still have some leverage to deal with it, within the 30 days you can return for ANY reason.

RMA will not cover a pixel in the lower-left sector, unless you bought a dead pixel guarantee.

There's still the 30 day unconditional return policy, though. Would be a pain in the butt, but worth it if the dead pixel will bother you (it would bother me).

Talk to XoticPC. Ask them to purchase 0 Dead Pixels policy and return laptop for LCD replacement.

whats with the reseller and the dead pixel guarantee costing $100. if you dont spend the $100, you can expect dead pixels on the laptop monitor? Is that what these resellers are saying? buy the guarantee or else?

No, it's actually pretty common to not have any dead pixels (at least for the 15.6 inchers) even without the warranty. Mine doesn't have any :)

No only about 1% of people end up with dead/stuck pixel. The fee just covers them ensuring you have none or they will replace it.

The sad part is the screen is only $100 new actually a little less wholesale cost so basically they make you pay for another screen lol

But its insurance and thats the cost. Can't knock them, you are not forced to get it and as said most have no problems.

How about buying a better gamut screen rather than returning laptop and buying new one ?
You have to pay for shipping and buy $100 dead pixel warranty to make sure it doesn't happen again, add a few more bucks and buy yourself a great new screen like the 95% gamut ones.

BS. At least 50% LCDs are flawed. XoticPC had to go through 4 LCDs to find me a perfect one.

That's nowhere near correct. If there was a 50% flaw rate, we (and all resellers) wouldn't have customers and you'd see forums flooded with complaints. You may have had bad luck, but dead pixels only affect a very small percentage of customers overall.

I don't think that's accurate, having 50% fail rate is would flood this forum with many dissatisfied cutomers and warnings to stay away from Sager.

Actually I tracked NP8170 and I think only 4 or 5 members received deadpixel from 250+pages on this forum.
