Xotic has wayy better pricing.... Probably better customer service, i emailed eurocom for a quote and never got an answer.... I'd say if you absolutely want to buy from canada check AET solution, better price than eurocom but still not like Xotic maybe 150-200$ more depending on exchange, 2-3weeks delivery time.

Ya he gets back to me in no time.
I checked into Xotic but they don't have all the latest stuff like the X9100, 8GB ram or the 9800 gt card.
The only thing they can do better is paint it.
and eurocom has a quadband cell phone expresscard

Did you price match with anyone before you placed your order? That's THE key thing with Eurocom.

EDIT...I'm still flabbergasted at how much that would have cost. Upwards of $4000CAD. I mean, I know its a not something for everyone but you could have ordered a slightly less expensive card, sold them on ebay and bought the memory and processor you wanted and installed them yourself. See emike :)

It'll work but you need two things:

    1. A Notebook cooler cause with that setup its going to run hot as a mofo
    2. Vista x64 to run that much ram

Ya I looked into doin it myself but I got a pretty good deal I think. And it was really no cheaper to get the processor and ram myself, plus I don't need the hassle.
I just want a portable 15.4 monster ready to go

Yeah I'm not too happy with vista 64. I found to my unpleasant surprise that a number of things aren't supported by it. By the way make sure to read this:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=292624
Basically in the 860 the hard-drives run real hot so you need the patch listed there to drop the temps.

Also grab the custom Force drivers that are a sticky on Sager forums...oh and make sure to download from Intel and Realtek the latest drivers for your wireless and audio. This is because the drivers shipped with Eurocom are out of date (I have one :)) Other then that, have fun, that machine looks like a bad boy.

*&A()@$! I typed a long reply and the **** forum ate it up.

    Okay repost.

I beg to differ with your claim that XoticPc has way better pricing. With current exchange rates, purchasing from Eurocom can be an excellent proposition for Americans.

    Sample configuration

    P9500
    9800M GTS
    200 GB 7200 RPM
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    WSXGA+
    Bluetooth
    Intel 5300
    Vista Home Premium

    Xoticpc = USD 2064 (2002 after discount)

    Eurocom = CND 2397 = USD 1942 @ 223PM PST November 18th 2008

If you're currently in a college or graduated from a college/high school in North America in the past 2 years, you are entitled to a 5% discount as well, bringing the total down to $1845 USD. That's about 10% cheaper than Xoticpc's price. The only difference between the two in configurations is the extra 2 year labor warranty provided by Xoticpc. For that price, I could upgrade to the 3 year parts and labor warranty from Eurocom and still have left over.

I'm not saying you should go for Eurocom over the Xoticpc or vice versa.

As for Eurocom's service, they have been quick to reply to my inquiries, and I'm quite pleased with their service. I have almost decided to go with them for my purchase, as being in NY, they are closer to me, cheaper, and have a trade in program available.

That said, I will grant you the fact that this is merely a sample configuration. It is certainly possible that there is a configuration where the positions are switched, or when the exchange rate no longer benefits Americans.

Additionally, I'm not quite certain why you needed to email them for a quote. Couldn't you have done it online via their website?

    @OP

    Incidentally, why Deadly Eurocom?

Yes i agree that if you are buying from the states you are going to save because of the exchange rate. I assumed maybe wrongly that Scourge is canadian. But if you had quick replies to your questions and they are giving good service then i'm happy for you, i just bought a laptop from Xotic after doing about a month of research and getting quotes to from a lot of places.

Just talking from my personal experience Eurocom never answered my emails. AET answered me within the same day and so did Xotic. Also maybe it depends on the model too, i bought the Sager NP5793, not quite the same laptop that Scourge is looking into.

Finally i decided on Xotic because of all i've read over here about their customer support, about the good rep they have and for me the best deal was with them. Might differ for other models couldn't say.

    Good luck !

Interesting, out of curiosity, who did you email at Eurocom?

Also, due to the exchange rate, Eurocom's actually a good deal for Canadians right now as well. In fact, pricematching to Xoticpc or Powernotebooks and other resellers actually raises the cost.

Im trying to get a price match for the NP5793 from xoticpc etc...nothing im like screw them.

(im from canada too). and to get a similar build, their prices are so high in comparison to xotic or powernotebooks(there i only checked for np5793)....Like even with the low exchange rate right now, id still win to buy from the US get it shipped etc. Hope they can answer already -_-

5% after price matching and or beating a same config system from another reseller?

Gophn told me to email them to get a price match/beat so i was expecting them to beat xotic or powernotebooks for same config. + theyre canadian i live in montreal so that wouldve been perfect, but they arent answering. Im disappointed, just emailed AET solution see what they can work out with me.

I emailed John Shore [email protected]. The 5793 at Eurocom doesn't have the massive discounts available on it like the Sager and its resellers has, but you can certainly try pricematching. No harm saving money and supporting local stores! lol

PS: Montreal's beautiful, was just up there a couple of weeks ago.

You're right and if ever he's not there or unavaible, you can try with Ken as well.

About pricing, when I bought my notebook, the canadian dollar was like 1 = 1 and John pricematched in CAD the xoticpc price and then I dealed some parts and I can say I've got a great deal, I mean 2300 + 5% taxe for what I got, I could'nt get that price anywhere else

I am also from Canada and with my configuration Eurocom was the cheapest, they got me set up real good.
But then again I am trying to build the most powerful 15.4 inch notebook I can. I want power and portability.

Really. the np5793 is still the same price.

edit1; eurocom still hasn't replied while AET solution replied within 18 hours. They're based right here in Montreal so since eurocom isn't answering i might just deal with AET. They told me to send a copy of my quote from Xoticpc with config and they will try to price match before taxes.

lol I messaged eurocom 11 time and he replied to me 11 time xD

I bet you didnt call them. but aet is still good I think. AET base their price on currency right now its at something like 1.23CDN =1$USD

so if it ends up 1.50$CDN = 1$USD by tommorow cheching! show me the money :) :)

So your saying eurocom does not base their prices on currency?? if not what do they base it on because theyre way overpriced for same setup( compared to xotic or whichever reseller for the np5793 current config).

edit#1: what email did you send a msg to, i sent a email to their sales department and support. (I was new to eurocom so i searched around on the website).

This is a bad idea. If you order from AET you will be paying provincial sales + federal sales tax while with Eurocom you will be paying 0% tax (5% - 5% graduate/student discount).

If you (a Canadian) want to order from a US vendor, I highly recommend to also check out:

They seem to make it very simple for Canadians to purchase Clevo notebooks with single price tag that includes all shipping and tax costs.

Tho, so far they're more expansive than Xoticpc especially when i clicked: Shipping options: Canadian Order (+300$) im like 300$?? $1,799.00 final price? that in USD?? im not even planning to pay that much total in CAD $$ loll!

    Thanks a lot tho.

That's a good option but the problem these days is the currency  I mean, 1 USD = 1.25 CAD, while few months ago, it was around 1 USD = 1.10 CAD and a year or so, it was 1 USD = 0.90 CAD

So i wake up today, i go to my inbox, and what's there?

    Eurocom (John Shore) : email

Thank you very much for your enquiry…

I have taken a look at the information provided and determined there is no way we can do this price. This price is below our cost and I cannot come close to this price. One issue BTW… I don’t believe the 1920 x 1200 panel is available in Matte??

Anyways, sorry we could not help you and good luck with your purchase

I simply replied telling him to go to whichever of Xoticpc or whatever and find out by himself!.

Heh, there you go. At any rate, Xotipc gets its Clevo units from Sager (importer), whereas Eurocom (importer) gets its units from Clevo. It might be that Eurocom didn't stock up on the 5793s (570RU), and thus has lesser need to offer clearing house prices on the M570RU the way Sager appears to be doing. There's also the fact that Eurocom prices can be odd, to say the least, at times.

    Good luck with your purchase.

I wonder who AET gets its stock from.

AET answered me that indeed, the only screen available for the NP5793 is the 1920x1200 MATTE one while John Shore just mailed me back that they only have the Glossy 1920x1200 screen for it. I might just be able to work something out with AET theyre like..10 mins of car travel from my place, Eurocom obviously is saying they can try to get as close to another quote as possible but they wont be able while AET seems to be on the path of matching/beating xotic or power for the np5793 as i submitted the quote yesterday.

If AET can, it might be that they get their stock from Sager as well, hence the Matte screen. Price matching would work for them too.

Any suggestion? Pretty much looking for the optimal thing for every dollar i spend (like best price/performance ratio) and it came down to the NP5793 since theyre on clearance with a 1920x1200 screen and blu-rays and 9800 GTS graphic card etc.

My initial budget was 1500CAD$ im pulling this to maximum 1700$(with a ****ty exchange rate that bring us to like 1450 USD max) -_-.

AET does get their stock from Sager. The Sager logo is on their home page and their warranty options say its a Sager warranty. I did my price matching before pulling the Trigger on a 5796TU. AET was more expensive and if there is a non-simple warranty issue, it goes back to the states.

As for the screen, each company puts in what it orders. What Sager orders and what Eurocom orders are not the same. (I am very happy with my screen.)

@Gophn, my understanding of the prostar option was that they guaranteed no surprise shipping charges, but exchange rates were another story. This is still an excellent option, if you want to order American.
