I am in a paralegal program at college and have to do a lot of research papers and I do a little bit of gaming for relaxation but my main requirements were for a quality notebook which would last me at least 3 years until I started law school and Sager fit the bill nicely. I ordered it on the 3rd and it will get here on the 6th and I am impressed with the delivery time which is much faster than what Dell was quoting for the M1730.

It's a little expensive. Where have you configured it?
-
I think its expensive because he got the big warrantry and the the 30 day no dead pixel thing. and the additional battery. thats 500 dollars extra, so i think thats about right, mine was 2600ish from sager and i didnt get that stuff.
-
Yeah, that must be it. Even so, forgot to add the second battery when I tried to configure it. Seems OK to me
.
-
The warranty and extra battery came to an extra $489.00 and I ordered it directly from Sager. It's due to arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to put it through some benchmarks and start using it.
Due to class workload, I can't get around to fixing my desktop for a few months and having to use the wife's system while she is working on her master's degree sometimes creates conflict issues.
It will be good to have my own system again. -
Better go to xoticpc or powernotebooks.com and configure it for a lower price and better support. Same system.
Nevermind, you already ordered it. We want benchies! -
These threads are killing me, my 5792 arrives tomorrow!
-
you dont need the Intel Robson Technology
also get no ram and buy it somewhere else... i got my ram for 90$ (2x2gig)
personaly the higher resolution lcd worth it...
XP is still better for gaming... -
XP is not necessarily better for gaming, as a DX10 card should be used in a DX10 ready environment. Turbo Memory is indeed debatable, but you can't get it without RAM, except maybe at RJ Tech.
-
turbo memory is useles if you have more than 2gig in vista... -
Turbo Memory is useless if you have more than 1GB, but that's a different story. It's not a RAM replacer.
Anyway, if you can ask a system without RAM & HDD (without the basic 1GB and 80GB HDD) how much would the discount be? -
xotic no ram is 100$ (or very close)... for the hard drive i have no idea
-
You asked them?
-
-
100$ off? It seems like too much to me. I'd like one without RAM & HDD.
-
I got mine without the ram justin quoted -$45 to remove the basic 1gb stick
for $90 i got 2 x 2gb sticks from newegg, but the hdd that came with mine,
160gb 7200 was $160 wich is not a bad price. -
I always build my own desktops and in this case I wanted the convenience of getting a pre-built to time constraints. When I do have time to fix my desktop (one of my HD's in one of my RAID arrays is making the click of death noise) as well as upgrading the array size then I will build a Linux box out of the left over disks combined with spare parts I have laying around. I may one day put a hi-def burner in the Sager either when they settle on a standard or I can get a dual format that is not priced in the low earth orbit range.
If interested, I can post some benchmarks Friday or over the weekend since I should have the Sager later today and I won't have any classes on Friday.
