Hello. I just joined today and wanted some suggestions before I purchase the gaming laptop. I waited from last month until the Haswell chip came out so I'm wondering if I should wait longer for anything else that might come out? Also, is the keyboard on this model still color customizable?

Hey, I'm new eyeing the NP9390-S myself. I suppose its about time to upgrade from my 2nd gen i7 HP Envy.

From the looks of it GTX 765M SLI outperforms a single GTX 680M by a bit, so the $100 for a 680 doesn't seem to be worth it on paper.
But having a 680 can equate to a more cost effective upgrade path. Assuming you are planning keep the machine for 2 years or more and plan to upgrade.

In my opinion, the Blu-ray reader/burner isn't worth. I have a blu-ray burner in my tower, and have probably used it twice since i've bought it.

Isn't it a GTX 780M, not a GTX 680M? GTX 765M SLI outperforms a single GTX 680M by a bit but the GTX 780M outperforms GTX 765M SLI by a bit. Plus it's a single card solution so you can avoid some of the problems that SLI faces.

I'm not entirely sure why I discussed the GTX 680M since its not even a upgrade option. I think I meant to say 780M, and for some reason when I looked up 765M SLI and I compared it to the 680M.... senior moment at 25.
But, yes, the single 780M is my prefered route. A decent boost for an addition $100, and a more prospective upgrade path.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are someone of the problems that SLI faces?

Due to micro stutter the single 780m will "feel" faster (have more consistent frame times) so it is worth going for.

It would mean you can add a second one in future if you want.

did you configure the above on sager site. i would also look at xoticpc / prostar / power notebooks / mythlogic as well and configure the same on their websites.

I would recommend you loose the bluray player to save about $100. Also downgrade the 1103 killer network to 1102 killer network to get bluetooth 4.0, real life performance of the card should be similar, and its cheaper. Also if your reseller offers 8 GB of ram it will save money, you will most likely never use more than 8.

I believe that both the keyboard AND trackpad logo have customizable colors. Also I agree with the others that a single GTX 780m is better than the SLI solution, as it won't have micro stuttering and get better battery life.

Most resellers of Clevo laptops will do price matching, so use the configurator to get a quote from each reseller till you get the best price, then buy from your preferred reseller.

Thanks for the reply guys! I'm upgrading from a HP as well. (Pavilion zv6000 to be exact). I tend to keep the next laptop as long as this one.

I was looking on xoticpc. I dropped the blu-ray burner, change to a 780m and the price came out to 2527.01 without discount. The 16gb ram was the lowest I can get. Since I'm not paying with cash, does anyone know if they offer student discount?

Also, I checked prostar and the price came out cheaper ($2,378.00 without discount) only because they don't offer the (Anti-Glare Screen w/ 72% NTSC Color Gamut. Other than that the price is similar.

If you see similar performance between 2x SLI and 1x Single card, i always suggest going with the single card as you have because not all games support dual video cards. A lot of them do now but for the ones that done you'll only see the performance of 1 card.

I'm planning on waiting till the 120hz display gets released, it would make sense to display the full potential of the 780m SLI by having the proper screen that can render high frames per second smoothly in graphical demanding games, that is if you're willing to upgrade to SLI down the road. You can't upgrade a display.. The NP9370 included it, doesn't make sense for the the NP9390 to not have it included.
