"For less demanding applications, the GT 650M GPU is powered off and the integrated Intel GMA graphics handles both rendering and display calls to conserve power and provide the highest possible battery life. Best of all, these transitions are executed instantaneously, seamlessly and automatically without a hiccup."

Is there a way for me to get the 650m running the whole time? What if i decide to use the integrated to preserve battery while playing a game is there a way to do that? is there a button to switch this on and off? on 6110 or the 6165

Sorry for the non-stop noob questions I've no idea because I only used a laptop with only an integrated card.

Why would you want to have the gt650m running the whole time?

Thats what Optimus by Nvidia is.

If you work on the desktop or similar it uses the built in graphics intel hd4000 and powers the battery consuming gt650 off. When you start a GPU demanding software the GT650m kicks in.

There are possibilities to control the GPU, yes.
Just not sure if its a button or Nvidia control :)

There should be a function key to switch back and forth. I don't have my Clevo with optimus yet, so I don't know for sure, but that is how optimus has worked on the other machines that I have used it on. There is probably a setting in the NVIDIA control panel to control it as well. Either way, you don't have to worry about it switching over to integrated graphics while gaming- it will never do that.

there is no manual switch for going from integrated to dedicated on the fly, but there is the nvidia control panel which will allow u to customize which gpu to use on certain programs

The W150ER (NP6165) model has a button on the top left corner of the keyboard, when pressed the discrete GPU will always be off. There is no way to have the discrete GPU on all the time, but you can set a profile to programs that you always want to have them run with discrete GPU.

this (optimus) is the best feature of the card...and the games :).

Why would you want it switched off?

Oh i see. Then the 6165 is better because you get a button/hotkey to switch to the other

    Currently:Macbook unibody 13.3 late 2008.
Getting a 6165 or a 6110 as soon as i see reviews when playing games!
