My P750ZM's edp 1920/1080 screen presents a solid black bar cutting off the the leftmost 2 inches of the screen. This bar is present from the bios to the boot screens. if a little flex goes onto the LCD the bar goes away. Having taken out the LCD and and plugged in another LCD panel the fault appears to be in the LCD panel and not the EDP Cable. However the backlight of the LCD is fully iluminated. Would I be able to repair the LCD by replacing the LCD inverter rather than the whole panel? Can this still be done?

its likely the digitizer, you'll probably need to get a new monitor.

It's the panel, not inverter (I'm pretty sure it doesn't have one..). The bar might go away temporarily if you squeeze the panel from the top/bottom part where the black bar is. It is a bad connection inside the panel and I'm pretty sure it is unfixable, unless your other hobby is repairing modern cellphones with a soldering iron.
Put your panel model number here: http://www.panelook.com/index.php and you should see list of compatible panels, in case finding an exact replacement is difficult. -

Panels use press bar soldering on the line drivers (for compactness and production costs) and these can come away causing the bars you describe.
You would find it extremely difficult to make such a repair successfully and as above getting a replacement will save you time and expense.Prostar Computer likes this.
