What are the differences between 157 and 150sm also 170 vs 177sm? from what i can see its just the design of the case, the major component are still the same

It is just the design that is different. The hardware is the same between them.
-
Hey Hutsady, when will you guys put the P150SM on your website? Also, when do you think you'll be able to start shipping it? end of june maybe?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
We havent gotten any ETA on the P150SM yet, just the P157SM which is on our site now.
-
So you already have the P157SM in stock?
-
Does the 150SM come witha backlite keyboard?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes it does, it's design is essentially the same as the P150EM.
-
According to the manual, yes, the P150SM will have the backlit keyboard. If what I understood is correct :
Model A = P150SM, Sager NP????
Model B = P157SM, Sager NP8250
Model C = P151SM1, Sager NP8230
Model D = P170SM, Sager NP????
Model E = P177SM, Sager NP8290
Please do correct me if I'm wrong. -
All specs are released. Just visit any reseller site for details or here as well: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...p157sm-p150sm-sager-np8250-owners-lounge.html
But yes it comes with a backlit keyboard. -

Just the value orientated 151 that does not IIRC. -
Hey Meaker, any new info regarding P150SM?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Like what? I can't think of anything we don't know since we have a review and a service manual
-
LOL, not that. Regarding availability. Both P151SM1 and P157SM are up for order. I'm just wondering where did the P150SM go?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's just a bit behind.
-
Prostar Computer Company Representative
We don't have it either. 8970M is a bit delayed too but should be available in coming weeks. -
Quick question. Can we now disable enduro/optimus on these new models?
Thanks! -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Theres no manual switching in the new models either.
-
Aww.. darn..
Is this also true for models capable of SLI/Crossfire?
Thanks -
nVidia Optimus does not support SLI and AMD Enduro does not support Crossfire. The integrated GPU is never used, so no issues there.
-
We have the P150SM up for order, in stock too.
-
Where would I be able to download a copy of the Service Manuals for the P150SM and the P370SM? I'm not finding them on my usual sources yet.
-
Use palkeo's ftp mirror for service manuals; P1xxSM
-
Awesome, Thanks!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well it's more a user manual IIRC rather than a detailed service guide. -
Yea, I know.. The schematics are the main part that I use from them, it takes a lot of the mystery out of what the chips are doing. The rest is all easy logic. One of the things I'm wondering about though, The P150SM has a rather sizable chip that isn't populated, as well as supporting circuits on the flip side of the board, next to the 3D LCD connector, and I don't see any logical function of what it would have done. Just keeps me wondering. The other concern, is that the shipping version of the P150SM has two stickers over the secondary mSata slot declaring that "Warranty Void Removed" in strikingly good Changlish. I'm not sure if that's Sagers doing, or if there is some sort of firmware/hardware incompatibility that will cause the laptop to go into meltdown if I use the slot. If it were something of that nature though, why even put the daughter board in the chassis? it's four screws and connected by ribbon, so it serves nothing of structural importance.

Possibly a potential thunderbolt option. When you say 3d LCD connector what do you mean since the P150SM and P170SM don't have a 3d screen option.
-
I'm not at work at the moment, so I can't point to exact part numbers, but on the P150EM, the P370EM as well as the P150SM and P370SM there are two connectors on the motherboard, flipside to the video card, one is smaller than the other by about 6-10 pins. ... from checking out the FSM, I find that it is actually the eDP port.. which since the P150EM has not been used. On the P150HM, and the X7200, there were, at the least, the electrical pads and the chassis tooling to easily allow for a 3D emitter built into the laptop. I remember seeing one laptop with that as an option from Sager a few months ago, but I don't remember which exactly. All the laptops I have built though, have not had the parts placed for that feature. I was at that time assuming that the connector was for a special 3D screen, available to... Someone.. out there, but not the general public.
Anyways.. to the root of your response..
Adjacent to the eDP port, southwest of it, as looking at Page 22 on the FSM, is the BGA layout and silk-screening for an interesting chip. I can't make out the part number from the FSM, so I'll have to try to remember to post it on Monday when I'm at work. I have yet to check the other FSM's of the other laptops that this board fits.. those might have the answer. (one possibility is the controlling chip for the spectrum analyzer on one of the P37xSM models.. (At least thats where I think I saw that at.)
As far as Thunderbolt support... maybe.. but I'm not sure where they would connect it. If they had the pads for the chip, I would think they would also have the pads for the port placement. There are some unplaced connectors for the other models though, but none give me the feeling that they are for TB. -
Hi guys, I know this topic is pretty old, but I'm try to understand if the 150SM board DOES have the eDP port and the PS8625 eDP->LVDS converter, as stated in the service manual.
I know Clevo's FSM sometimes reports parts that are not installed and I would like to know if there is any possibility to upgrade the laptop with a 120hz monitor or not.
I know some constructors (like sager and malibal) did this upgrade with old 170HM board, and I don't understand why clevo is not using eDP port anymore.
Thanks for support!
cheers

120hz is not used due to optimus and enduro.
-
Can you describe how Optimus or Enduro messes with 120hz screens?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It relies on the intel display abilities and it would use up a lot of PCI-E bandwidth transferring all the frames from GPU to IGPU.
-
Ok that makes sense
Difference between 157sm vs 150sm
