I am currently in the market for a new laptop and the Sager 5760 really interests me...I was on the powernotebooks site and I also saw the 5750. Money for me is a really tight point. And between the two is a pretty significant price difference to me.

So as stated in the title what are the main differences between them? They both use the same case housing correct and all the internal components are interchangable, upgradable. So the only difference are the components?

Sorry if this is a noob question but I just would like to make sure of things :) .

    Thanks alot!

The only diffrence i can see is that the 5760 has the 17" WSXGA+ (1680x1050) or WUXGA (1920x1200) Widescreen "Super Clear Glossy" LCD Display with PCI-e nVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX 256MB GDDR3 Or, nVIDIA Quadro FX Go1400 w/256MB GDDR3 Memory while the 5750 has the 17" WXGA+ (1440x900) Super Clear Glossy LCD Display with ati x1600.

So basically the 5760 has a superior gfx card and option for an high res screen that will give more screen area to work with. Also the 5760 can be a decent business workstation with the Quardo card and matte screen.

Both Sager models are using the same Clevo M570U chassis.

Like stated before, but i'll try to elaborate:
    :) Clevo M570U-A (a.k.a. Sager 5750): :)
    ** comes with only WXGA+ (1440 x 900) LCD screen
** comes with only ATI X1600

    :) Clevo M570U (a.k.a. Sager 5760): :)
** has all 17" LCD options available to choose from
    - WXGA+ (1440 x 900)... some Sager resellers will have this available
    - WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) ... in glossy or matte
    - WUXGA (1920 x 1200)
** has all videocards available to choose from:
    - ATI X1600 ... some Sager resellers will have this available
    - nVidia 7900GTX (256mb or 512mb)
    - nVidia 7950GTX (512mb)
    - nVidia Quadro 2500M (512mb)

Everything else about the notebooks are the same.

    Hope this clears things up,
    -Gophn

I guess im going with the 5760..What screen size and type would you guys reccomend? I would be surfing, gaming and doing the usual homework, nothing serious. And instead of the standard 2ghz processor, should I upgrade or is it not really worth the cash?

    Thanks

And im thinking or ordering from R & J Tech, will the notebook come branded as Sager or Clevo? (not that it matters, just wondering) And im going to order it with the XP pro, xp can take advantage of the dual cores right? And what does "Raid" mean? its for secondary hardrives right? So just ignore it?

The current T7200 sits in the range with the best price to performance ratio, and is what is recommended. I would advise to go with that processor. If you decide to go with a high power nVidia card, like the Go 7900 GTX, then you should be able to play games very well. That may also affect the screen you choose from the three available. Screen resolutions are mostly preference, so it may be better if you can go see other notebooks in a shop, with the same resolutions, to get an idea of what you like.

Getting the WUXGA would be best since it would give you more workspace for websites and documents. And the gaming would be great at this resolution since you wont need AA. ;)

I would recommend to get the T7200 (2.00ghz), currently its the best bang for the buck CPU. Getting anything higher would not be worth it.

the notebook will come with a sticker (that you choose to place on it) that is generic (like Notebook, or StyleNote, etc..). If you get a Sager, then they will place the same kind of sticker on the chassis with SAGER on it. I choose to not have a sticker on mine. :)

Vista fully supports multi-cores. So it wont really matter which OS you choose. Although if you want to have the best overall performance in gaming and other work, XP would be the better choice since Vista is still young.

if you asked this question, then you should ignore it. The second harddrive can be placed in the spot where the optical drive goes. I would recommend to get an external harddrive instead if you want more space.

Thats as good as its gonna get for that money. :)

Optional TV Tuner might be nice if you are planning to watch TV/Cable on your notebook... since it can act as a DVR.

I would recommend Vista since it get the most support from Microsoft and 3rd party companies in the present and future.

I would not worry about the text size one bit. You can easily remedy that by:
    - going to Display Properties
    - Settings tab, then Advanced button
    - change the DPI settings to Large

so your total is $2389 ?

Do you have bluetooth devices you are going to be using? or plan to?
If not, then you can drop the bluetooth and save $50. Not much, but should cover your shipping.

Everything else has the makings of quite a nice machine.

Please keep in mind.. this is a opinion and just my opinion.. not meant to spark a debate.

I'm personally going to second the 1680x1050 screen.. while you can play at the higher res without FSAA when it does come time to drop the graphics down because of newer titles killing the frame rate then you will notice a sorta softness when your no longer gaming in the native resolution.. I'm personally glad that I didn't go with the UXGA screen.. and while you can increase the DPI it doesn't always apply to the web browser tho browsers have their own zoom options (and the zoom applies to text only).. also keep in mind that not all web pages use Text navigation buttons so those sites optimized for lower resolutions with Graphic will not be effected by browser zooms..

Better still.. go to a local store and see if you can find some screens to look at first hand..

also don't forget the nvidia scaling in the control panel 1:1 gives the best results but you loose some of your screen. I like stretch scaling (Maxing) on most of my games but for some, 1:1 is a must.
