So I'm looking to buy a SSD after i get my p170em, but I'm slightly confused on the type I should buy considering when I looked at Crucial M4's I'm seeing 4 different 256gb versions. So what's the difference between Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2BAA 2.5" 256GB SATA III , Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 256GB SATA III , and Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB. Some look like they have different heights on the size but not sure which size I would even need. Any help would be great. Thank you.

So just so we are on the same page. You recall seeing 4 different 256GB M4 versions. Yet you only post 3? Confusing haha :p

    Oh well lets start.

The Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2BAA 2.5" 256GB SATA III is a Adapter Braket. It includes this 3.5" Adapter Bracket that will fit into/onto a desktop PC.
    SOURCE: CT256M4SSD2BAA - 256GB, 2.5-inch Solid State Drive , from Crucial.com

The Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 256GB SATA III is a Data Transfer Kit, you can basically plug the SSD in the kit and plug it into the PC/laptop to transfer things around.

And the Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SATA III is the SSD itself without any additional things.

Just to be clear, there's no difference whatsoever to the SSD itself resigned with the kits that they offer :) Also notice the price change!

    I hope I helped ;)

Oh well, I bet there are more. The standard 2.5" are the only ones important to you.

The Adapter Bracket is really just a waste of money IMO unless you plan to use the SSD on a desktop in the future :)
