I'm looking to see if there is anyway to output digital audio from my 5760 to my home stereo or to my TV itself. While playing a dvd, movie clip, or game, I'm able to get video from an DVI to HDMI cable, but I'm wondering about digital audio. Other than the headphone jack, is there anything else I can do?

the audio output on the Clevo M570U is as follows:

    - headphones or 2/2.1 speakers (even from TV speakers) can be connected to headphone jack
    - analog multi-channel (up to 8-channels) can be connected to each jack

if you want to connect your system to TV speakers, use a 3.5mm jack to RCA audio cable

If you want to connect it to a Receiver/Home Theater system, you will use the SPDIF out on the back of the notebook to get a digital out to the multi-channel speaker system.

Thanks, the receiver hook up is what I was looking for. I have it connected to my home theather now, but via headphone jack and I'm only getting pro logic. Will using the SPDIF enable Dolby digital or DTS?

Ok, I was lying! I have one more question that was brought up in the other thread but not answered. So if I want to hook my laptop up to my receiver, then I'm going to need a coaxial cable, correct?

Ok, I have read and read and tested and tried. I'm not sure if the 5760 uses a coax or optical SPDIF. Does anyone have any experience hooking their laptops to receivers using the SPDIF? I downloaded the latest realtek drivers, but still no joy.

I just use a coax digital audio cable (RCA on each end) with a RCA socket to mono 3.5mm plug adapter. Works fine hooked up to my receiver. Basically the same as the picture above.

Ram Electronics is a great place to do business with. Bought HDMI cables from them for in-wall installation, along with TosLink (and a 5.1 a few years back) and always have the best selection and lower prices.

Do you get Dolby 5.1 or DTS out of this?

I have the same setup to my DIR-800C reciever but I can only get Pro Logic.

Is this possible? Or do I need a external sound card that encodes Dolby Digital Live.

Playing games with pro logic just sucks. I had these hooked up to my xbox back in the day (same sort of setup with monster cables except with TOSLINK) and I was getting Dolby 5.1 transmitted to my headphones (dolby headphone)
