    Hi,

I've tried to connect my Sager 5793 to a receiver using a S/PDIF->Optical cable but I got no sound ( not even the red light).

I'm using windows vista 32-bit with Realtek HD Audio 2.0. I've set Realtek Digital Output as the default device.

Does anybody use the digital audio output? What should I do?

    thanks,

Well, it´s coaxial SPDIF, not optical SPDIF.

Yep, if you don't see a light inside the output port, chances are you're using coaxial. Here's a handy chart for example. If your port doesn't look like the bottom one, then it's not going to work with an optical cable. And you should read Gophn's threads because he discusses the kind of 3.5 mm to coaxial cable you'll probably be needing and other finer points.

Yep I also ordered an optical SPDIF cable and found it would not work. Did a quick search and found this thread. Guess I'll try to find a 3.5 to coax in the attic or buy one tomorrow. Thanks Gophn and all that responded to this thread.
