I always accidentally touch my touchpad while typing, which is very frustrating. If I download a software that does this, I cannot use it to game. I don't want a software that doesn't let me click at all during typing either, it makes it inconvenient to game. How do I turn off just this one ancient feature?
I have a Sager, the touchpad is synaptics pointing device.

You can toggle the touchpad on and off with F1.

Yes, but I that disables the touchpad all together. I want to use it to navigate and I want to use the buttons to click. The only thing I want gone is if I tap the touchpad it does not automatically click.
The most frustrating thing is if I go to the touchpad device there is a grayed out "tap to click" bar between accessories and info.

Also, I tried the code method using the terminal. I suspect it would work but my computer cannot find 'xinput' asks me to make sure I typed it properly. ugh.

Do you normally have a mouse plugged in? If so you can try AutoSensitivity - Home which will change the sensitivity of the touch pad when a mouse is attached.

Press the windows key, search for "mouse".

Go to the device settings tab.

    Press settings.

Pres tapping on the left, uncheck tappings.

    Apply.

The only option I get in the mouse settings is an option to turn off buttons unfortunately.

I do often use a mouse, but I typically just disable the touchpad when doing so. My problems arise when I just want to use the labtop without a mouse.

Install Synaptics drivers and in the Synaptics settings there will be everything you need to customize behavior of your touchpad. Everything from scrolling, pinch zoom, tapping, side scrolling, rotating, speed whatever.

    Thank you!
I'm sorry to be a pain, but I'm not sure what version that is. I search 7.5 but that came out in 2003! Do you have a link by any chance?

It should be downloadable in the drivers section of your notebook, otherwise I suppose you could try the set on the MSI website.
