Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knew how to disable the onboard mic. I bought a new pair of headphones and once I plug in the mic portion of the headset, both the mics work, and the built in mic always captures the fan sound so it is very annoying for my friends.

Also, my new set of headphones has 4 inputs (Sub/center, Rear, Front, Mic). Since the sound card only has 3 acceptable outputs + the digital, I am only able to plug in 3 of the outputs at once. (if anyone was wondering, I bought the Ear Force X-52 from Turtle beach).

I am only able to either have the full sub/center, rear and front without a mic, or I have to give up the sub/center for the mic. Is there a workaround to changing the digital to another output?

What you can do, is if you have windows you have to go to windows Device Manager. I know in XP, if you right click on my computer, and then go to hardware, its in that tab.
In the Device Manager you can shut the onboard microphone. It is usually just called microphone and its in the audio tab.

Why do your headphones have more than one audio port, it is kindof a stupid design, they are not going to make the audio any better. I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro silver's and they are the best headphones i have ever used, and they only use one port.

    I hope this helps

Yea, I tried looking for that, but it doesnt seem to be listed under my settings..

Not sure why, but there seems to be 3 different speakers in the headphones, so I'm guessing thats why they need the 3 different audio ports.

I dont know exactly which one you have to shut off, but I can tell you that the microphone is not connected to USB. The only choices you have are from the Sound, Video and Game COntrollers menu.
I bet it is the bluetooth audio which is screwing things up on you. It is not the legacy audio, because that is what carries the music. The realtek high def audio should not be causing it either.

I would try shutting off the two bluetooth options, and see what happens.

    Good luck
