Hey all, I use a USB mouse on a Sager N8130 running Win7, so I tried to disable my touchpad. At first, when I went to "mouse" in control panel, the synaptics pointing device would come up. I'd click on disable, and it would turn off the touchpad. However, if I put the computer to sleep, it would reenable. Because I didn't want to disable it every session, I tried to uninstall the drivers.

Now, when I click on "mouse" in the control panel, the synaptics device doesn't come up, but the touchpad still functions. The device manager still has the PS/2 (which I assume is the touchpad) and the HID (which I assume is the USB mouse, because when I unplug the USB mouse, this option disappears) still show up. However, the "disable" button is grayed out on the PS/2 Mouse when I go to the driver tab.

Is there a way to disable the touchpad permanently? And barring that, how can I restore the drivers for the touchpad so that when I click on "mouse" in the control panel, it brings me to the synaptics device so that I can at least disable the touchpad every session?

    Thanks for the help.

Alright, I will post a screen in my device manager to help you locate the touchpad.

Its recognized as PS2 input device, the other one is my USB mouse.

+Rep me if I helped! (the button beneath my avatar, in the middle of the three)

I do have that option show up in my device manager, exactly as you've posted it in your screenshot. However, when I access the driver tab under that, the "disable" button doesn't function, and uninstalling the driver doesn't do anything either, even after a restart.

How can I disable the touchpad permanently?

cant you turn it of using the Fn + Fnumber keys. not sure what it would be for that model but try Fn + F1
of course this only disables it for while its on and after reboot you will have to disable it each time.
