Hi there. My 1st post. I am thinking about buying a Sager NP8150 with AMD 6970m and was wondering if there was a way to turn off the discrete graphics so it only uses the sandy bridge's internal gpu (I think it's something like intel hd 3000). I know that it's not possible to do automatic graphics switching like macbook pros. Is there an option in BIOS?

Also, how reliable are they? I mean do they still work like after 4 years?

    Thanks,
    ainstushar.

Nope.. Can't turn off 6970M and use integrated graphics on the NP8150 or NP8130. It is not hard wired to do so. People would have been jumping on this laptop if it worked.

Well that sucks. Do you think the support will be added later or it's theoretically impossible to do such a thing? Does it depend on mobo? I really want a graphics switch (nvidia's optimus works with fast-medium graphics cards, not high end ones like gtx 485 or 6970). The important thing is battery life. Without the switch, the laptop barely lasts 3 hours.

    Any suggestions?

it's dependent on how they design the mobo.. clevo didn't design this series to work with the igp, unfortunately. so, no, support will not be added later to these models.. maybe one day they'll come out with a new line that uses the igp, but that's in the future somewhere and not know to any of us..

if you're set on longer batter life with a 6970, your only option is an Alienware m17x R3
