    Hello,

I got a Sager NP9262 about 3weeks ago and ive noticed just today that where the display is mounted on ( some metal piece) are loose. So it moves a tiny bit when ever I shift it as I have it on my lap whenever im on it ( it is sitting on my zalman2000 cooler, so it is still getting air). Is it worth it to send it in for this to be fixed or go over to a small computer store in my town that can maybe fix it?

    Thanks for any responses, Zenth.

IMO I think that it wouldn't hurt to go to a local place and see if they can fix it. If they can't they shouldn't charge you and no harm done. :) If that doesn't work out and it bothers you enough just send it in. Just my $0.02.

If you can bear to part with it, I'd send it in, and would specify that they check the lcd cable as well as tightening whatever's loose on the hinge - a number of 926x systems have had problems with loose/damaged lcd cables.

So even tho i notice no problems displaying images now, my best interest would be to send it in?

That would be my opinion (keep in mind, I do not (yet) have a 9262, so I've never actually torn one down; however, if you search through the forum, you should come across a number of posts regarding screen flickering caused by a crimped or damaged lcd cable. If your display unit is already loose, that suggests to my mind the distinct possibility that the lcd cable may already have suffered some damage, and if not already, then it will almost certainly get damaged in the near future. Unless you feel comfortable handling the repair yourself - there is one poster who posted a DIY guide to replacing the cable - I would suggest sending it in now to have it taken care of before you start seeing any symptoms of a damaged lcd cable; otherwise, you may have to send it in twice).

Call your supplier. If it's Sager they pay for shipping both ways in warranty related issues.
Worst thing is that you won`t have the laptop for~2 weeks.

You may also be able to simply remove the hinge covers (call Sager to get a pictorial guide...make sure you explain why you need it) and tighten the screws holding the hinges in place. Be sure you don't over-tighten them, as an over-tightened hinge cover can lead to case strain that causes cracking.

I like doing things myself but, when it comes to computers im not really "the all knowing type". So, I like your idea Eleison, just what is the difficulty of getting to the hinge. It doesn't sound too hard but, sounding and doing are two different things :p. If I don't feel up to it ill just send it in because that seems like the best thing to do as the rest of you said. It seems like the type of problem that gets worse the longer you leave it and can't just ignore it because it isn't affecting me at the moment.

The hinge generally isn't that difficult to access, but there is occasionally a trick to doing it. I've never disassembled a 9262, so I can't say for certain what that trick would be. Like I said, it's usually pretty easy, but give Sager a call to see if they can't send you a pictorial guide. If they decide it might be too hard, they'll give you an RMA, instead.
