A few questions dont know weather its been asked before...
I have a D900T which i got a couple of months shy of 2 years ago.
7800 gtx go 3.8Ghz p4.
Today ive noticed the laptops screens been glitching blue :/ and at one point everything on blue turned very noisy and ghosty :/
I hate to think the graphics card is dying or the screen is dying so please any advice.
Today i also installed the latest direct x and im using the Xtream G laptop drivers witch i installed a week ago.
Oh and Xp.
whats my options :/ If i really must get a new lcd plate where can i get one for a good price.
Also i noticed its the same socket type can i install the q6600. If not why not.
Also what about 8800 gtx go cards? Are they an option to install... And again if not why not.
Thanks for your time...

[Added] Also I did read about the Q6600 not being entirly compatable this morning.
Is that 30 Watts of extra power being drawn through the mother board, it cant take? Or is that 30 watts of extra heat the heatsink, it cant take?
In what way is it not compatable? If the motherboard can feed the extra power with no problems I dont see why the heatsink should be a problem. It works very well.
Also if you use the new efficiant Q6600 thats over 10 watts less than the older model. Has anyone tested this?

the screen issue sounds like theres a loose cable from the LCD inverter to the LCD panel.
But from the age, it could also be the cable is worn out a bit, so it might need replacing. -
You can verify to see if it's your GPU problem or not by plugging your notebook with an external display.
If display shows correct color of graphic/text, then it's possibly your LCD Panel.
LCD Panel circuitry sometimes go bad. Inverter is also possible.
To your description, I would assume its your backlight of LCD Panel. -
Na the backlight is working fine...
And yeah I dont think its the graphics card as i use a dell monitor as my primary montor and thats working fine.
I admit i do only hope it just a loose LVDS cable and not the ribbon :/
Clear shows how it should be [it keeps flickering from clear to versious states of Crapped...
All blue is when its totaly crapped out and high contrast are the closeups...Attached Files:

So the external display is fine but not your notebook screen.
Open the LCD screen, and check the cable that's hooking to the LCD panel in the back. And also check the connection on the mainboard section as well. -
Im going to open it up and have a look see if its just a loose cable...
But what about the other questions? -
there is no 8800 for notebooks right now. and even when its released it may or may not even work in the older systems there are still no gaurantees at this time. it may not end up working in any system thats out right now at all.. no one can say
i dont own that system so i can be 100% sure but from my understanding that system to use the quad core would need a mobo upgrade. if so your prob around 500$ for the upgrade -
Ok well I got a new LCD screen installed for the D900t and its still blue... also its constantly blue now. no longer just flickering.
Changed the LCD and changed the lvds cable. So unless anyone else has any ideas It looks like its the mother board that’s fudged up.
Knowing that I need this display to work for when I take my work with me. [im a cg artist]
And knowing I have to get a new motherboard I might as well get one that supports the q6600 G0 so can anyone tell me the model number and revision that will fit into this laptop and is compatible with all the hardware in this laptop [a straight forward mobo replacement that supports q6600] Please help. -
its probably the LCD inverter if not the LCD or videocard.
-
The inverter? I doupt the video card is the fault as my other monitor i connect to my laptop is fine.
-
So motherboards? What one can i fit into this laptop also suports the q6600? I would really like a quadcore on this if i can as i need to do a fair bit of rendering.
-
You know i still need help here. So please just tell me what mobo will fit the D900t case and suport q6600? Not to mention the 7800 go thats already in there.
-
Sorry, the D900T chassis can only fit the previous generation D900T/K parts. Thats all.
You can upgrade the videocard up to 7950GTX (old proprietary Clevo mdule). -
But the only mother board that would fit my chassis is the mother board model that doesnt suport q6600? Not even a later revision? :/
-
I would call the place you bought the notebook from and see if thay have anything that is compatible. If not, they will be able to tell you what board you can buy, what upgrades it can take, and where you may be able to purchase one if at all.
Calling them would probably be your best bet at this point.
Hope this helps. -
no quad core motherboard for the old D900T... sorry.
-
Eesh phoned up the company i brought it from... They want £395 for the motherboard alone...
Tbh this is the last time I buy a desktop replacment laptop. All the promises of upgrades and bollocks like that seem to be gone. NEct tiem im just going to build a portable desktop.
And that as a price just for the motherboard is a ffing joke.
Display failing? Help! :(
