Not really sure which if any forum this should be on. But I figured I'd get the opininion of my fellow Clevo owners since most are pretty knowledgable on tech in general.

Today I purchased a Samsung 46" b630 LCD tv. It was sold out EVERYWHERE. I ended up purchasing a display model. Then I got to thinking that it's been on a long time every single day.

Should I be concerned about it being used too much already in the store and shortening the life span? Should I return it and wait for it to come in stock? Or maybe just up and buy the 5 year warranty for $200?

    Thanks for the input

I should think that it'll be fine. I bought a display panasonic LCD TV 3 years ago and it's still going strong. Besides, most of these LCD panels have a 'burn in' time of a few hundred hours before the colours settle properly, yours is already there!

Oh that's cool about the burn in time. I'd never heard that.

LCD displays are typically rated at 30,000 hours lifetime-that is 30,000 hours of continuously on display before they drop to 50 % of their brilliance when new. If yours was an OLED display I might be a little concerned but as a previous post stated, yours is fine.

If the TV looks fine then I would say there isn't anything to worry about. It kind of depends on which store you bought it from; some stores that I know in my area abuse their floor models while others treat them like a lady. But if it's all good, it's all good.
