I had a question regarding display types for the Clevo P170HM. I've read through the different postings regarding Matte vs Glossy but still haven't found the answers that I'm looking for. I will be going with the nVidia GeForce GTX 580M as my graphics card option. My primary usage is for gaming and it will be indoors under ceiling florescent lighting.

    1. How good is the 120Hz 3D screens? I'm not sure if I will ever actually get the 3D glasses(sounds interesting) but I'm more interested in the quality of the display.

    2. How much of a difference is there between the stock screen and the 90% Glare and 72% Matte screens? I noticed that there was no option for a 90% Matte screen on XoticPC and I don't know if the difference is an apples to oranges kind of thing.

I've been trying to find the answers to these questions before I decide what to purchase....

From what I've read, the people with 120Hz seem to be very happy and most don't really use it for 3D. Other than some people saying they got the stock screen, I haven't found much on the other 2.

Be nice if we could have someone review all 3 and the 120Hz one too and compare all of them, but I guess that would require a lot of laptops :)

Various users have used the screen and have posted reviews.

Why not search for them to try to gauge an idea?

@Ryan: I did do a search in the forums and I cannot find any useful information for the configuration that I am interested in. Also information from 2009-2010 is to outdated to be of any use since I'm sure that the technology has advanced since then. There are some good threads about Matte vs Glare like I talked about in my original post but the ones that I've seen only compared the 90% screens and not 72%. I would think that the 72% screen would be better but I really don't know. That's why I asked for some input from the more experienced users.

Thanks Malibal, not sure how I missed a lot of those links in my search. I'll check them out in a bit. Appreciate it.

Use Google to search this site. It's super effective. You'll just have to do a little sorting.

Yeah, the board search tool doesn't work that great. Google search with "site:forum.notebookreview.com <Your terms>" and it should bring up a lot more relevant results.
