But with what we saw for 1070 and 1080 what do you think for mobile variants ?
Is this laptop good for next games in 2016 ? ( BF1 , overwatch, ?)

Did BF1 show any gameplay at all? I assume it's on the frostbite 3.5 engine or something like that. Overwatch plays fine on a 970M. I would personally wait. The coming chips will run cooler.

Please cancel your order and wait for 6 months at least for Pascal Notebooks to show up. From the performance we've seen lately, it seems like a big improvement and much lower temps.

Then you answered your own question. 970m is still quite powerful, and if you can't wait forever is a good option.

@Phoenix dang 1080 sli is gonna be insane, I think I'll stick with 980 Ti sli for now, but I know I'm gonna wanna upgrade to the 1080 Tis.

If a 1070 beats a 980 Ti the 1060 will almost definitely beat the 970 and probably at least match the 980. That's speculation so don't take it for fact, but its what I would guess. I just can't imagine them cutting it too much compared to the 1070, so around 970-980 level makes sense. But we can't know for sure until we see more real performance numbers.

Compared to the Ti yes on temps, it's higher power and higher performance than the GM204. Certainly better performance per watt. But not quite as much as the 980ti over the 980 as the 980 sits on the more efficient part of the curve.

Going back to this one, with the history of previous Nvidia GPUs, you could take one tier on a generation and it would be similar to the tierdown in the next generation, and it has been fairly consistent. So a 950m = 860m, 960m = 870m, etc etc. So hopefully that is a trend that continues, and that with the numbers they mentioned about the 1080 and 1070 gives some optimism that it might be better? Wait and see... wait and see....

We better stop saying this, the vendors might get the idea that they can disable previous issued hardware to force us to purchase new stuff,

It's pretty much the worst time to buy a new laptop. :(

If you really need one, then you must get one, but otherwise make a new desktop with the 1080/1070 card(s) and wait.

The performance improvement / difference is so pronounced for the desktop 1080/1070 vs 980/etc vendors are already doing high $$$ rebates to sell out the last generation stock they have on hand.

You might wait as long as you can for the laptop GPU's to at least be announced, so the same rebates take effect for the 960m/965m/970m/980m laptops.

Waiting for Pascal Mobile means waiting at least 5 to 6 month if we're basing ourselves on the same schedule Nvidia used for Maxwell 980M.

It all depends on what you need, if your defiance (I also ordered my computer from PCspecialist, they're good I like them :) ), was bought in order to play all game High 2x MSAA, don't wait...

but if you're seeking VR, playing at 1440p, and extreme performance, yes Pascal is worth the wait.

You got yourself a nice computer, have fun with it ! And don't worry about pascal and stuff, plus a defiance pascal version would cost way more in october :).

Diablo 2 should be able to run at higher resolution on a good amount of cards, as it is a bit of an older game and not that demanding. Overwatch might require something a bit higher to run at a higher resolution, whether it is a graphics card higher up in the 900 series, or whatever Pascal brings, not sure on those yet.

TF2 yes, Overwatch maybe not...it's quite fast paced, lot of animations etc. Don't know if it can run on 1440p/60fps, the engine powering the game was built from scratch by Blizzard?

Early benchmarks place the GTX 970 epic/1440p with 54 to 64 fps. So if you slightly lower the settings, (high not epic, and 2xAA) it might run good. Blizzard and NVidia will release optimisation patches too so yeah it might run well.

Sure, easily. You might see lower than 60 FPS in Overwatch with those settings, but it should still be playable. D2 doesn't support that resolution; it'll scale down to the highest it does support.. I don't know whether TF2 and Overwatch do or not.

Overwatch will need some detail changes, 1440p is a lot more demanding than 1080p.

What was the overall length of time it took to receive your laptop from when you made payment?
I ordered this laptop in end of April but cancelled 2 days later because my hunch said pascal was going to be sooner than first thought around October. Plus I still have my "Optimus vi" with 960m which I guess is doing ok for what I'm playing and owned a 970m twice prior. But I did want this laptop a lot. But hope pascal comes in this laptop.

Hate to break it to you. But if you're into Fallout 4 and Doom (2016), or pretty much any games from major studios released this year then better get yourself equipped with Pascal lol. My 980M is struggling with Fallout 4 maxed out FHD. 4K is almost unplayable :(

Yeah, 4k is still best on a higher end desktop card. Hopefully Pascal will change that, but we still have to wait to see what is coming to notebooks.

4K I can understand, but it's "struggling" on FHD? I would think most configurations would be landing a good 50 - 60 FPS in that game with a 980M.

I would agree. Maybe try not maxing out every setting, and maybe lowering a couple settings, might help it still run at ultra high settings at good frames.

It's going to depend on detail settings and thermals as to how performance is going to be, a solid 1080p should be well within reach.

By any chance did you put the LOD and view distance at max ? Imagine an open world game where everything is rendered in a 10Km (sorry metric system I'm from France ^^) radius...

My 980M offers honorable performance on the game, but again I never max out AA and textures distances, everything else ultra-ed.

Well maxed-out gaming without compromise is the whole point that me (and I'm sure many others) are into these beasts now isn't it? Pascal is on track to be a lot less compromising than previous gens to me.
