    I can't get one of the screws out with any of my screwdrivers and i'm trying to install an SSD.

    Are you talking about the plastic piece with the foam pieces on it? You don't absolutely need it, but you'll need to replace it somehow (foam tape, etc) or your drive won't fit tight in the bay. It could potentially come loose or get knocked around without it.
