    Hi all,

As above really, im here in the UK and was just pondering wether i could get a 5793 from sager. You can get them from Novatech here in the UK under the guise of the X80R but they only come with the orange trim, no FP reader and i was just curious seeing as the $ prices from the sager website seem similar to equivalent £ prices from Novatech.

    Thanks

Well the problem would be the warranty, you might well have to sent the notebook back to the US if there was any problems. Personally I'd just buy form Novatech.

the best thing for US to do is ORDER from a RE-Seller in our own country.

then we can benifit from all the warranty's that the Re-Seller provides.

I ordered From Eurocom in Canada *my country*

    you could order from http://www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk/

they ship Clevo notebooks (which is the same as Sager) Sager is just a Re-Seller of Clevo the ODM.

My advise is to go with either Rock or Novatech. Novatech has great pricing and Rock has great support.

yep, I think you should stay with a UK re-seller.

When you're looking at US prices, don't forget that if you import a laptop from the US into the UK, you will need to pay v.a.t. and import duty.

Plus, if you ever have to send it back for warranty repairs you will have to pay the shipping both ways...and then what if you have to send it back a 2nd time.

This is not likely, but my grandaddy taught me that I should never make a bet I could not afford to lose.

If a European really wanted to get their system from the US (and really, who wouldn't :D ), as an alternative to the manufacturer's or reseller's warranty, it might be possible to purchase from an independent third-party a separate service plan/extended warranty, or even just plain old insurance (provided it doesn't exclude damages that are covered under the manufacturer's warranty - a number of policies do  ).

In particular, with an insurance policy, you should be able to get more customized coverage than you get with the one-size-fits-all standard warranties, including being able to pick the term of coverage based on months instead of years. If you're looking for a safety net for a period that is appreciably longer than the default warranty period you get under all circumstances (e.g., the Sager basic 1-year warranty), you may be able to get better pricing than paying for a multi-year warranty.

The main problem, the warranty, isn't that big if you take a look at the big picture. Not every laptop breaks down after all. Buying from US + VAT equals to, sometimes, a bigger price than in Europe (considering Novatech for instance). The best prices I've seen were at Novatech (UK) and Schenker (Germany).
