Any chance we get a new chassis for midrange Clevo laptops? (featuring the 1060m)

So we have the N150, N170 base model... but I don't like how it still wastes space and weight for an ODD. I'd rather have this space used for a bigger battery or better cooling.

I'd personally prefer the N550RC for a 1060m candidate: it doesn't have that ODD drive and is 300 grams lighter. However what bugs me is, that it still uses an ancient VGA port and only has 950m, and therefore probably only the 1050m instead of the 1060m. Though I kinda doubt the cooling is much different compared to the N150, because the chassis sizes are similar. I'd rather have the 1060m in a N550RC model than in a N150...

    Any infos available?

No new models have been officially announced. The mid range did just get ips screens and usb 3.1 added.

We do have the 14 inch NP8640 for compact power users.

    Btw. for the record...

I was searching for reviews of the mentioned Clevo N550RC or N550RC1 or N550RN, but didn't find much. Though I found another important thing: a chinese page which showed a disassembly of the laptop.

Nice clean insides with its small rectangular motherboard and symmetrical fan design. Weights are also balanced out. Imo it's layout is on par with other books, like Asus GX501 or HP Omen 15. No messed up layout because of a ODD. I really hope this chassis will get a decent Pascal chip...

The chassis currently have 950M GPUs so I wouldn't expect it to be upgraded with anything amazing in the future - the most it would be is a lower - mid range next gen GPU.

Yeah, but since I'm a midrange user anyways, it would be fine. If it gets at least an Nvidia 1050 (and that Nvidia is the rumored 3gb version of the rumored 1060 6gb version), then it'll probably be enough for me.

It's not. The P640RE is a 14", the N550RC a 15.6". You can see on the table of the chinese website, that it's the 15.6" type. That said, maybe I can read up on the P640 how the noise levels are, since cooling is the same ;)

Indeed, and my bad. I took one glance at the pic, found it familiar and thought it was the P640RE.
