You get 2 years of part for $149 dollars so $75 dollars of part per year, but adding in $149 dollars would probably make my notebook go over 2K but it might be worth it in case something does go wrong. However for that price I can get an SSD or even a blue-ray player so therefore...
Did you guys buy extra warranty?

Personally I am going to go for a 3 year collect and return with parts and labour when I buy my X7200. It seems like an expensive addition given that you may never use it but if you look at the amount of people on this site who have had to RMA their laptops, for various reasons, to me it looks like a necessity. If something breaks, it could be very expensive for you to get it fixed especially if it's your GPU or CPU.

I never pay extra for warranties.
I just take whatever the base warranty is. -
Hi, $149 for a 3 year Parts and Labor Warranty is an excellent price, considering the coverage you get. Under this 3 year Parts & Labor Plan, almost everything on the notebook, including: CPU, LCD, GPU, RAM, HDD etc. will be covered for a full 3 years. The only parts that aren't covered after the first year are the ac adapter and battery. Those are only covered for a max of one year.
This warranty plan also includes all shipping charges on warranty work, so if you ever need to have the notebook serviced, it won't even cost you a dollar (for 3 full years) - since parts, labor and shipping charges are all included in this plan. -
im so glad i did with my nexus/m860tu
just by looking at this forum and the amount of 8800/9800GT graphics cards that have died just outside the 2 year warranty period.
when mine died in march this year it was replaced with the better 260GTX the same day.
so £200-300 for parts and labour + the shipping or £70 for an extra year warranty. i always recommend it to everyone now a days. -

i got my parents to pay for it, and it just arrived its amazing.

I don't think any of the warranties in question cover accidental damage unless the explicitly say so. Dell offer an accidental damage warranty but it is a separate add-on to the collect/return/part & labour warranty.
