    For example:

    Standard:
3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Based Toll Free Telephone Tech Support (Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)

Similar deal with powernotebooks.com and pctorque.com

Now, to upgrade to 2 years parts & labor + no dead pixel guarantee that's another $250.

Do you guys typically stay with the standard warranty? What's been your experience with dead pixels on SAGER products? Is it worth upgrading to these higher end warranties???

    Thanks

Hi 01blacksnake and welcome to NBR

i didnt go for the dead pixel policy on my m860tu and had no problems but when it comes to warranty and especially after youve spent a good couple of grand or more on a laptop i would highly recommend the extended warranty.
even though Sagers are built like tanks its always worth it for peace of mind.

it really depends on your amount of usage, and how often will you carry it around.
... and if you feel confident that you will take care of it.

but sometimes defective parts can occur either by design or just the statistics of errors

I have had my notebook for over 3 years, never really had any issues since I am always adamant in monitoring and taking care of my system. :)
... so I knew I wouldn't need an extended warranty.

I was on a very short budget when I got my computer so I didn't get any fancy shmancy warranty extensions. A year and a half down the road I'm wishing I did. About a week after my standard one year warranty expired my computer got knocked off my desk and one of the hinges that hold the screen upright completely snapped in two. (thank God the screen still works!)

I called Sager, but they want $100 just for me to send it to them. Plus parts, plus labor, plus them shipping it back to them, plus the entire screen may need replaced, etc. etc.

I only wish I was that knowledgeable of such things. :( I'd probably end up breaking it even worse.

If you feel confident and have proper instruction (like the Service Manual), then you should be fine.
