Ok so I am not saying I regret my purchase, I quite like my lappyThis is more a question of configurations. What do you wish you had done differently in terms of the config of your laptop? If you were to "do it again" would you have done something different?
Personally, my main gripe is the glossy screen. Far as I know matte style was not available with my 6990M, but really feel thats the weak link in my lappy. Even with back lighting darker games / apps I'm working with I have a major glare , just with the lighting in my room. Its not really an issue for movies / most games but is an issue for some of the things I do.

I swear you made this topic specifically for me, because I was JUST wondering if I could find some coulda-wouldas on Sager. I'm going to be buying near the end of the week myself, and I'm at the matte vs gloss stage now.

I got matte and Im amazed by the laptop. Im not going back to glare. No chance, since Ive seen what it does when I try to game in bright daylight.

All the aversion to glossy screens and yet I prefer them in my machines. I've had one matte and have since gone back to glossy on all machines since. Better looking blacks, brightness, and contrast- and if you need good outdoor quality, throw on a matte screen filter.

Haha! This is soooo hard! -

Yeah, this Matte vs Glossy affair is complicated, and it's one of the few things you can't easily change after you take the plunge. The problem is that it's difficult to filter out people who speak for one's behalf without equal experience of the other, which is a tendency that tends to swing in Matte's favor.

Matte if you intend to travel and use your laptop outside of your house but this is a gaming desktop replacement so how often is that?
I personally love the matte screen on my little Eee Pc but thats because it comes with me everywhere, wereas the glossy on my Clevo is totally the right choice IMO because the brightness and the way the colours appear more vibrant really shows up for me especially in games like Skyrim.
My screen also has a lot less glare than my old screen, the only downside is the stuck sub pixel which without every attempt has not freed upgonna have to send her in for repair at some point.
Matte for Netbooks small laptops, Gloss for gaming desktop replacements. Matte also would costs £79 more and that was just too much for little if not any gain in my case. -

No regrets whatsoever - love it. Perfect specs, perfect laptop
I also really personally dislike glossy -
I'm a little worried about my screen now... But, I believe I'll be able to live w/ the glare in order to save the $135... Here's hoping!
I mean... it is fine when you are sitting directly in front of it, right? -

For me I have light sensitivity issues (I work on a computer all day at my day job) so I need to turn the brightness down a bit. Its much more of an annoyance for my photoshop work, since I am often dealing with darker colors.
I could also see it being an issue for darker games, like maybe Dead Space 2. If you have a light on directly behind you there will be some glare in the darker portions of the game.
But the short answer is: If you are looking directly at the screen on brighter settings there should not be much glare. Unless you are outside or are in a very bright room. I'm mainly regretting it because this screen is not ideal for photoshop/blender type work. Gaming I think its still fine in most situations (but for sure sure my next lappy will be a matte screen). -
I'm personally fond of matte screens, as glare has a habit of showing up even in the most ideal of indoor lighting conditions...

Only regret I have couldn't be avoided. I wanted SLI and I also wanted 3D, but couldn't afford to wait for the release of the P270WM so I just went with the P170HM3. Eventually I'll just get a barebones P270WM with only the CPU and one graphics card and put everything from my P170HM in it.
So basically my regret is just with the timing in my personal life, no regrets with the laptop that I got. It works perfectly and I prefer the design much better than the other gaming laptop brands out there. -
Honestly, I'll let ya know if I regret it whenever it ships...going to be a month between process date and ship date at this rate.
-
I did not receive my laptop to regret anything yet, but at the moment I am very content with my configuration.
I thought about the Glossy vs Matte screen carefully and I am confident that Matte is my preference and it is more eye friendly (i.e. healthier as published in some academic reports).
Also, I considered Glossy with filter option but fighting with the air bubbles is very annoying for me, ViewGuard Anti-Glare Matte Screen Protector Review -
Only change i might have made would have been to pickup a blu ray drive. They had a special on it when i bought the PC (only like a $40 adder) and would now be nice to pair with my new HDTV.
Also, absolutely 0 regrets with the stock Matte screen. Seen glossy screens on some computers, and seeing my own face in the screen is distracting to me. Glad to not have to worry about it. -
No regrets on my laptop, got everything I needed. Although the first time I purchased it, it originally had the 6970m GPU, which I somewhat regret getting at that time. But I got lucky and returned the laptop (due to problems) when the new 580m came out, so they discounted the 485m at that time. Now I have the 485m and am very content with the setup.
First time with a matte screen and have been very happy. Although, I travel a lot, so this was a no brainer. -
No regrets at all.... and here is why.
1. First laptop I have owned that is FULLY upgradable and USER FRIENDLY
2. Cost vs. performance (I bought mine used for 1/2 price and still under warranty)
3. Rubberized finish (no scratches and no fingerprints!)
4. Updatability (did I mention this already
Very happy with my purchase going on week 3, I wish that I had upgraded sooner. -
no regrets , but (you know there is always a but ) if I had the extra $200, I would have got 6990M, 1600mhz ram, 2.2quad intel, killer wireless . I usually never buy top of the top of the line products, since the value goes down so dramatically. Its not worth the money if you constantly sell your laptops every year.
Better to wait 11 months and get the next best deal! ivy and 28nm graphics, I am looking right at you!. On a side note my order shipped today! wo hooo!

Overall I am fairly happy with my P150HM, but sometimes I do wonder if I should have shed out couple hundred bucks more for a higher quality laptop chassis.
Compared to my old Dell Inspiron the keyboard feels cheap, the speakers are underwhelming and the rubber finish might feel and look nice, but attracts a huge amount of dust.
But what has been really eating at me since I got the notebook are the fans. The P150HM was my first "real" gaming laptop and when I first started up a game and the fans started doing their thing, I felt like it might take off anytime. The other thing are the irregular fans, that turn on and off every couple seconds while surfing or working with Microsoft Office. Super annoying and makes concentrated working (at least for me) very hard. I thought about returning it at first, but then decided to keep it anyways. Hey, maybe I'll get used to it.
Don't get me wrong, you'll get what you pay for. I don't think there's another notebook out there that offers this much performance for the buck, but I don't think the P150HM is for everyone.
Despite all this, I am still fairly satisfied, but sometimes I do wonder if I should have went with the Asus G74... -
Im happy with my config:
i7-2760 (Mostly for emulation)
6990M
8GB @1600
500GB - @7200
I went with the matte finish so that it doesn't get delayed (also dust is an issue where I stay, so rubber is a no-go), and thanks to Malibal, they upgraded the screen to 95% glossy instead of the stock!
The only one thing, is the Intel® 6300 Ultimate I went with, but that was my mistake, I did not research it first, I was thinking this is THE BEST!, and it is!
Sadly the chip has no Bluetooth!
But this could be solved easily by a cheap dongle. -
And which video card are you running? I think the AMD6990 might game @ a higher temp than my GTX560m... so that could also be our difference in noise perception. Because I'm -definitely- sound sensitive, and this NP8130 w/ the GTX560m hits it on the money for me (at 76F or lower ambient temp, just for reference).
Point being, I wanted to pass on this info to the OP properly so he'll know. -
I'm happy with my laptop, but I do wish I had gotten a quicker CPU. The i7-2630 is quick, but I need moar!
Also, the audio is crummy on this laptop. Both the speakers and the audio jack. Not an issue for me though as I already had an external audio interface, and it's not something I can really "regret" since there's nothing you can do to change it. Nonetheless, fantastic machine. -
Mainly the keyboard was why I sold mine.
Second was the crazy amount of dust.
Third was that I wanted a better screen than the 95% Gamut TN. -
the ONLY regret i have:
I had been saving up for an NP8150 with a 485m in it. I finally got enough, and the day I go to order, I was told Sager stopped selling the NP8150 with that GPU. I love my NP8130 and the GTX 560m, but that 485m is the ONE thing I wish I had. -
The only regret with my system is hard drive space. Which is an easy fix.

But yeah, I wanted something better. It was overly tinted in Red. -
Don't get ViewGuard... Get Photodons. You will be satisfied (but dont expect too much from just a "film"). If the product is damaged during shipping, you can get a replacement by just taking a photo of it and email it to them
-
Only thing i regret in mine is the default glossy screen and i wish i wouldve waited an extra month when they were offering a free 8 gb ram upgrade.
Someday i'll upgrade my screen, my dvd drive to bluray, my ram, and add a second HDD. -
Not sure if you want resellers to chime in on personal opinions as well but here goes.
My only regret when i ordered my first Sager was not getting a second AC adapter. It was fine at first but then i thought why am i breaking my head over going under the desk each time to plug/unplug. -
The only regret so far is that I should have ordered it sooner !! Ordered on Cyber Monday and still awaiting arrival of the back-ordered Bigfoot Killer cards before it starts into the production stage. Latest "rumor" of ETA is mid to end January. Add 10 days or so for production and then a few days for shipping, and I am looking at mid February !!!

no regrets. only potential. well, now that I have a thousand more bucks to spare I would have gone for the alienware m18x just b/c of the dual vid cards but I'll just wait a few years before a new lappie.
in short, a happy nope
-
The Bigfoot cards are backordered too? I was told my order was on hold for the chassis and 95% Matte screen, but nothing about the NIC. January?!
