Do you use a notebook cooler for your clevo notebook? Just wanted to get some peoples opinions on whether or not they're worth it. A friend of mine had one for his HP, which actually made it hotter because it made the fans on his laptop blow out.

I use a Spire Pacific Breeze cooling pad. It's one of the most inexpensive pads you can buy, but provides the most cooling power of any pad I know of. See the review in the Cooling Guide.
He was probably using the cooler improperly then, I don't see how that could happen. What you want to avoid with cooling pads is the ones that suck downward - the laptops fans are pulling the opposite way, so the fans will actually get less air and the notebook will get hotter.

Spire Pacific Breeze is pretty loud.

I'm tempted to build my own, but quality 120mm fans are ~$15, and two of them + other materials to build a shell would probably make this cost as much if not more than some other notebook coolers. Though it would probably be more efficient, as I could put the fans directly under the intake, I make it so I could control the fan speeds, and it would fit a 17 inch widescreen laptop nicely. How come nobody has made one of those yet?

If you want to lessen the fan noise of the RAM cooler you'll probably want a laptop cooler for the m570u. Though you should hold off on getting one until you think your notebook is too hot or the fans are coming on too often.

Also your friend should be able to take apart his cooler and turn around the fans...

Yes, I got 3, but use mainly one.
    - Cooler Master NotePAL W1 (not recommend for 17" Clevo's, it will scratch the front panel.
    - Targus Chill Mat (cheap, does not give me the tilt)
    - Vantec Lapcool4 (solid build, portable, gives the tilt for ergonomic keyboard use)

I like the Vantec LapCool4, since its folds up so that I can put it in my bag easily to take it out where ever I am, even if I use it on my legs.

I am currently using the Vantec LapCool4 on my 5760 as well.
You can click on my 5760 review on my sig to see it in action.
It is really GREAT due to its portability and ease of use.

I actually at 1st tought the NotePal W1 would be a great cooler but as Gophn stated, it is not that great for a 17".
I actually have the 3 fan version and ONLY used it once and I should be putting it on ebay this week.

    TBH.
You really do NOT need a laptopcooler for the 5760.
It runs cool enough that its not necessary.
Most of the time I just use my Vantec to keep my 5760 tilted for easier typing :D

Check my review of the Zalman silent laptop cooler in the reviews section :). Quite nice, powerful enough and silent. Is it really needed, probably not ;). Does it help? yeah.
