I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a build.
- 15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Matte Type Screen
- Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)
- AMD Radeon HD 7970M (2048MB) GDDR5 DX11 [User Upgradeable] (ETA: Late May)
- 750gb 7200rpm (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)
- 6x Blu-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive
However, when it comes to RAM, I save $50 for going from 1600MhZ to 1333MhZ. I want to use this as mainly a desktop replacement with the ability to play Skyrim, SC, D3, etc. Is RAM speed important or is the money better spent on other upgrades? I'd love to get a SSD but the lack of space really kills it for me. I'm thinking of using the saved money to get an MSATA for Intel SRT. If anybody can suggest other upgrades, (I'd love for my build to be no more than $1500) i'd gladly take your advice.

It's only marginally going to affect your loading times. It won't really affect your performance! Also, RAM as an after-market upgrade is dirt cheap, so I suggest get the 1333MHz for now and upgrade later if at all you feel the need to do so...

what model are you considering? i would go with the 1333MHz and an intel 520 120GB SSD. obviously not much storage, but you could take the saved money and put it toward a second drive down the road if you're considering a model like the 6165 or the 9150 (either a HDD or another SSD when price comes down). the 520's also a great drive that you can get for a decent upgrade price from the resellers.
Does RAM clock speed matter for my needs?
