The large amount of Sagers that we sell seem to last a long time. Yes, with any electronics you could have a part fail at some time. But percentage-wise, for the brands we carry, they typically seem to be one of the most reliable brands.

Of the gaming companies, Sager/Clevos are well made, and reliable machines. Usually last better than average.

From my experience, Clevo makes the best consumer-class Windows-based systems. In the overall notebook landscape, I rank business-class machines from Dell or Lenovo first, followed by Apple, Clevo and Razer, with MSI rounding out the Top 5. If you're concerned about Clevo quality/reliability, don't be. Even if you happen to have problems, as long as you bought from a reputable reseller, you'll be in good hands.

To elaborate a bit more, their higher end products in particular are quite good. Some of the their lower end products, while not necessarily likely to fail, are not as well built often using plastic and feeling a little flimsy. However, when you get to the high end, which I will describe as the P650/P670/P640 series and up, the laptops are really really solid. They are still fantastic value, but also just feel like very well built machines.

Thanks for the info into some of the lower and higher end products. I plan on getting a high-end product from Sager/Clevo, but the only site I saw with piled up reviews for them had mostly bad reviews(resellerrating.com).

I have to pass on low-end products because of them being prone to heat mostly because of their ultrabook design.

I decided to look into Sager because of their competitive prices, upgradability (just for safety measures), and I hear that they have better cooling than MSI.

Yeah, I really really like all of their high end stuff. They work great.

Through the past 12 years, my work has had many of them -(10+ I think). All are operational except 1 - which is operational with an external monitor (has a bad GPU). They are a older, and the hardware would be enough for Win XP, but we keep them around as general purpose machines (word processor, spread-sheet, browser, etc.) IIRC we've had to only send a machine in 2 times where there was something wrong with the motherboard. All other general repairs are made in-house.

In the instance of my x7200, which has been in use since Oct. 2012. It's never been sent back. It had a bad mem chip after about 3.5 years, but that was easy enough to fix (being a modular Clevo). It also has a broken USB (user caused), but other than that all original parts.

As someone said in another thread, "Viva, Clevo!"

I personally had problems but that was due to nVidia, not Sager/Clevo, but they went above and beyond to resolve my issues and that counts as well. Most people don't have issues with their machines, I just had bad luck which is something that can happen to anyone.

I can't vote in this poll, my answer is not inside.... T_T

...that's because my laptop is 5 years old and still going strong! :D

You can still vote. Don't worry about it saying 2-4 years I wanted to go with a more realistic lifespan for a laptop.

That's all good to know, I have a Gateway FX laptop which has lasted me for over 6 years (only thing has gone bad is a hard drive and the backlight on the screen) and it's soon time to upgrade. I have been considering Clevo for the last few months as a suitable replacement but waiting to see the situation with Pascal mobile until I make a decision. I want a reliable laptop that will last me a few years.

Another vote here for good clevo performance/reliability.

I current have a P150HM, P150EM, and I have a P370EM waiting at home. There is no other manufacture that I would buy a 4 year old used laptop from and not worry at all.

In that way I am the opposite. I don't buy new and let it last 3+ years. I buy at least two years old and use it for more two years.

The result is still the same - reliable and relevant even when old! :D

If it's worth anything, we have some Sagers that we use around the office. I know some of them are getting to be a few years old and still handling well. They may be more for daily use (web, email, remote support) kind of uses, and not gaming or rendering, but they are still going strong.

Yep, same here. Everyone's mileage will vary, though isolated incidents are just that and not exactly a sweeping statement to Clevo's build quality.

I have a Gateway FX laptop (P-7811FX) that has lasted for 8 years. I've upgrade the processor and hard drives (and a few other things) a few times to keep it going. But it is time to upgrade. Considering a P670RE3/NP8677-S as a replacement.

Were you considering a specific model?

I have an P-7805u FX and still runs strong.

I was specifically looking at the Clevo P771DM-G fully kitted out as a next replacement, that should last me a good 5 years. I considered the P670RE6 but I'm not too keen on BGA cpus for a DTR laptop.

It's a very robust system and as you say quite modular in the worst case.

Agreed, go for the P771.. It's modular and if anything fails, much more cheaper to replace that component.. get 2 years warranty though at least whichever way!

It's always worth considering getting an extended warranty, to help keep your investment safe. If not at the time of purchase, a lot of sellers will allow it to be added on within a specified time frame afterwards, if it helps with the budget picking it up later.

I think most of us here just realize how unique and powerful the systems are compared to a lot of other brands.

Not to mention, you don't have to go down to service centers just to get your recovery CD/media

I had to do that to two non-Clevos which took up a lot more time than needed for a simple reinstallation of OS

I believe it was in November '15 that the warranty went from 1 year to 2 years as a standard option. You may want to check your original order, as I believe most sellers will indicate the warranty on there, or check with your reseller.

Yes, you can add a warranty with us, within 90 days from the date the computer ships out. Same thing with the warranty, it starts from when the computer ships, and not from the purchase date.
