    Hi there,

wondering if i can get some advice here on the NP9150 audio and if it supports dolby digital live.

Am considering getting the Astro A40s with their mix amp to improve the audio quality but astro have stated that if the chipset doesn't support DDL, the audio output will only be in stereo instead of 5.1.

Writing to Sager directly, their response is that you can use the SPDIF to connect to your home Dolby Surround system and if the game is encoded with Dolby, your surround system will decode it.

The answer is still murky to me and would be great if I can get some clarification/understanding on this.

Alternatively, is it better for me to go with an external sound card (which one?) to pair with the sennheiser pc360s

    much thanks

Yes, as long as your receiver can decode that, you should be good. It will decode it to work with 5.1 surround at that point.

Here are the audio specs on this model if you did not have them:
    Built-in High Definition Sound System
    S/PDIF Digital Output
External 7.1CH Audio Output Supported by Headphone, Microphone, S/PDIF and Line-In Jacks
    1 x Built-in Microphone
    2 x Built-in Speakers (Made by Onkyo)
    1 x Built-in Subwoofer
    THX TruStudio Pro
    Sound Blaster Compatible

The internal sound cards on these are great, but if you are looking for a external, I would look towards the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro THX 24-bit External USB Sound Card. These are awesome!
