I am not sure if anybody knows this but I am hesitating between those two. Most importantly is that I want the notebook to last a very long time and be reliable (excellent cooling... ). I don't need the best of the best gaming experience but if I want my laptop to be on for a very long time with minimal heat increase. For this reason my question =)

    Any help appreciated...

A bigger chassis will mean better air circulation within the system, so regardless of the parts inside, a 17" should be cooler than a 15" yes.

ah right thank you. Was hoping maybe somebody has had experience with both models. Is the cooling difference significant ?

The NP8760 may be the bigger model but it also has slightly hotter / more powerful components in it as well. Either way, the NP8662's cooling is excellent and I am sure the NP8760 is too.

The two models have different cooling solutions because of the different thermal budgets required by the CPU and GPU.

However the end result will be about the same. Sager/Clevo is well known for keeping their laptops cooled properly.

So, cooling should not be a deciding point between the two. If you are not an avid gamer, your better choice (depending on what applications you will be using) would be the NP8662 because with the current sale of at least $300 OFF it is clearly the better value.

I may change my recommendation however depending on what applications you use...so, what applications will you be using?

This is all you need to know here. I don't mean to start a flame war, but Clevo puts much more effort into cooling/power than aesthetics, compared to mainstream brands such as AW. This is why they overclock very well :)

Yes, both the W860CU and W870CU have very similar cooling systems. The W870CU does not have a foam ring around the GPU fan intake or a sticker on the CPU fan intake, and if the foam ring and sticker were to be removed on the W860CU as well, the results will be very similar. The W870CU is just wider around the trim to support the larger 17.3 inch display, but the W870CU and W860CU both have near identical space inside the chassis so passive cooling should be very similar. The only difference between the two systems lies within the heatsink radiators. The W870CU has slightly larger radiators. Nevertheless, both notebooks keep their parts cool exceptionally well and overheating should be the last of anyone's concerns on either of these notebooks.

Well np8662 it is then. I will be mainly downloading through torrents. And playing Dota, so the 15 inch model should suffice. Thank you all for the comments.

Torrents are just a file sharing medium. Associating it with something bad is almost like associating steaming video (such as youtube) with going to watch movies of a strong sexual nature (apparently the street name is word blocked here) .
