    Hello,

I would love to see some benchmarks and feedback of HD5870 in any Clevo laptop. I also did not found a straight comparison to GTX 285M. If any user has laptop with HD5870 pre-ordered, please leave a comment.

    Best regards :)

Well I visited Asus section to see some benchmarks mandrake, but is kinda chaotic for me and only review I saw was Victious's one (or whatever is his nick name :D ) Do you know of straight comparison to GTX 285M? (same games, same resolution, same cpu, same details)

I can run the 285M benchmarks is Mandrake will run the same on his 5870 ? :D Thats if he has the 4GB RAM and the i7-720 which I dont think he does (8GB RAM for sure)

    Crysis Demo Mandrake ? Or 30Mark 06?

Would have got the ASUS myself but its far to heavy for collage use.

I have to leave for a doctors appointment soon but I already have some benchmarks done. My specs are in my sig. I owned the 280M at one point and I can say except for DMC4 I would expect the 5870 to come out on top on most games and synthetics.

I am not interested in synthetics. i heard nobody plays these games :D

Seriously, could you compare games like Crysis, MW2, Crysis WH, NFS Shift, Dragon Age, Dirt 2, Mass Effect 2, HAWX, World in Conflict, Stalker, FC2, and UT3. If you guys have any of these make a Nvidia's TOP MODEL vs Ati's TOP MODEL battle and I guarantee many of users will be interested in straight comparissn including ME :)

Lol you think Im made of money :D I dont have alot of those games. I have Crysis but wont be able to get a propper test until next week, I will do a Crysis Demo test tonight and let you know the FPS.

I also have COD4 but is that game to pathetic ? I know its not the most uptodate but I will get you the FPS all the same.

    Let the Battle commence ;)

As a side note the ATI 5870 always produces better 3D Mark scores than it does in real life games.

A lot of this work has already been done for the G73 thanks to Vic, LINK.

I don't have a majority of the games either. I do have Crysis but hate the game. That leaves the freebie gaming benchmarks; DMC4, RE5, SF4, Unigine Heaven, etc...

3DMark06 isn't affected by the amount of memory you have unless you don't have enough to run it. It's 70% CPU, 20% GPU and 10% other....these are guesstimates.

When it comes to the synthetic benchmarks the 4870/5870 cards will still be on top. Even more with crossfire vs sli. For gaming benchmarks it will vary. I bought that Batman game through MS. Here is my stock score.

    Amazing Mandrake!
Man I'm so torn as to which way to go, wait for the "mythical" 380GTX that some members have said is coming out soon or just go ahead and order the 5870HD.
Never had a ATI gpu so I'm a little leary but I'm leaning that way for now, good thing I got a couple of months to make a final choice.

I wouldn't bother waiting for the next series from Nvidia; they still haven't released a full mobile derivative of the 200 series. Also, based on the naming scheme, it'll be only DX10.1.

I think you will be able to buy it from rjtech or eurocom in upgrade center. My guess is 450USD max.

EDIT: In upgrade center of W860CU there is HD5870 only for 415CAD which is about 380USD I guess.

Depends if Eurocom will sell it separately. Email them and youll seeeee.

I'll gladly pay RJtech an extra $100 over eurocomm.

    I'm afraid I'd get a 3870 instead of the 5870 if I ordered from the latter ;)

Well I dont see a reason to go with anyone selling for highe price. You are buying only laptop part with no service and other stuff. Its not like buyin laptop from any company you have to deal with... that's my point of view :)

Depends on the game and how it uses DX11. If its used for more effects, it'll be slower, if its used for a balance, it should be about the same, if its used for optimisations, it'll be faster (for example Battleforge DX11).

All depends on the game and the programming :)

Most will probably use it for extra eye candy though, so it really will depend on the game how much hit is taken, and what you get for the hit. (More complicated lighting for example looks really good and adds another touch of depth, but takes more work).

RJTech for barebones and if you like configuring things yourself. Of course everyone sings nothing but praises for XoticPC.

RJ will put it together for you if you want.

I am building mine myself because I have all the parts except RAM (have a i7-720 laying around and a nice HDD).

The only thing I got with it from RJ was the 6300 wifi.

Direct X 11 with tessellation will be much slower, but Direct X 11 with it disabled will be a bit faster than Direct X 10 was.
