Getting ready to place an order for a Clevo-based laptop, but starting to have second thoughts about the absence of a video card. It uses Intel 4710MQ, has 16 GB memory, and a 500 GB SSD. This is for a Christmas gift. My son is a teacher and will be the prime user of this laptop, mostly for heavy internet usage in communicating with students, Word usage for writing novels/articles, Power Point for school-based presentations, a lot of Pandora/Spotify, and the like. Gaming is not something he does, although I wonder if his kids might not get on it now and then for some youtube viewing and a little Minecraft.

All that said, I'm a desktop user primarily and it just doesn't seem right not to have a video card. Am I worrying needlessly? I'd be spending a fair chunk of change for this and I'd hate to buy something that is lacking. Sure would appreciate some thoughts on this before I press the order button.

Where are you ordering from? Check again on the website you are ordering from....you probably missed (most certainly) the gpu info.

Yes, I didn't phrase the question very well...I did mean to question the absence of a discrete video card and wondering if I would regret just getting the integrated video. I was questioning whether the integrated video would truly be strong enough to handle multitasking without needing video card memory. I'll read over the link; thanks.

The built in GPU on the chip should be able to handle everything that you have described. Since there is no gaming planned I don't think he will miss the dedicated GPU.

    Congrats on the order!

Another good way to answer this question is, does he need one now?
