I've just noticed that mine leaks a little on the left and right sides, only really noticable when there's a black screen, like the Windows start-up.
I have no idea whether this is normal, though I've read a lot of threads on other forums for notebooks in general in which people complain about certain models being affected.
Although it doesn't really affect the look of the screen in general use, so I suppose I shouldn't be too worried.

if by leak u mean lighter on the sides then yes mine does the same, very noticalbe on a black screen, it doesnt bother me a whole lot tho
-
I guess it's only a problem if it affects your view of the screen in normal use - on my (all blue) desktop for instance, I don't notice it at all.
-
1. flimsy CD tray
2. wobbly USB ports
3. keyboard flex
4. LCD backlighting
KP, it looks like you need to return/exchange your 5720. Mine has none of those faults. You better act before your return period expires. If these problems bother you now, you'll hate yourself if you don't do something about it while you still can. -
Hmmm. What to do! I'm really worried if I have to dispute anything with Sager too, since the correspondance I've had with them so far has kind of been in broken English. Arghhh, I hate these situations!I just want a perfect, faultless 5720 right here right now!

As long as you're within your return period, all you should have to do is request a return for exchange due to numerous problems. If they give you a hard time, demand a return for refund. At worst, you'll get back your money and you can buy another 5720 from a different reseller.

I would also recommend taking advantage of the 30-day satisfaction gurantee - you'll only get one chance at it.
Sager is pretty good with exchanges and/or refunds, so I think you'll be fine. -
Yeah, I think I'm going to go with the full refund - today, I woke up, smelled the coffee and decided I'm completely disillusioned with laptops in general. If I'm entirely honest with myself, every single notebook I've ever had has been delivered with numerous problems, and it really pisses me off.
What's especially depressing is that when I was doing my research this time, all I heard was nothing but praise for Sager. I honestly thought I was getting an exceptional computer this time. I didn't bank on getting something with a cheaper feeling keyboard than my old Compaqs and Averatec, screen leakage, wobbly CD tray and loose, wobbly USB ports. The kind of crap you expect from HP, Dell, Gateway et al. I certainly didn't bank on Sager fobbing me off with a load of trash written in pigeon English about these problems being completely normal for the 5720 (loose USB ports "part of the design"? Come on Sager!), nor did I expect to be asked to do a keyboard repair myself (they're shipping me a rubber pad to put under it) and to be told "you won't void the warranty as long as you don't damage the keyboard in the process, so be very careful"
So anyway, it's a full refund for me; I'm going to use the cash to build myself a ridiculous desktop system, and keep my old Averatec for travelling. I just think the laptop industry in general has very low standards regarding what is acceptable and what isn't. At least if I build myself a computer I'll be fully responsible for everything and completely in control (as much as I can be).
As for those of you who have perfect 5720s - you lucky so and so's! It IS an outstanding machine in terms of performance and if it wasn't for the problems mine came with I'd be absoultely over the moon with it. That's why I didn't want to admit to myself it needed returning. I SO wanted this one to be "the one"! I guess I could get a replacement, but if that one comes with the same problems.......arghh! And like I said, I have no desire whatsoever to engage in a dispute with a company whose tech guys don't speak the best of English - I've lost too much hair making futile attempts to articulate my argument clearly to such people in the past. Not their fault of course, but not mine either. -

Well, sorry to hear about your problems and that you are returning it. Let us know what kind of desktop you build.
-
In all this the real stars have been Powernotebooks.com who have been great since day one. I know that when I have to replace the laptop I'll be using if I build a desktop, I'll be buying it from them. I'd be quite interested to see their new Dual-Core Pentium M PowerPro notebooks when they come out.
On another note - my experience has made me wonder about Sagers claims of 96 hour testing before shipment! -
Amusing update concerning Sager customer service....
You may remember they said they'd send me a rubber mat to place under my 5720 keyboard to reduce the flex under the backspace key. Well, I guess that's moot now since I sent my computer back. But today, the package with the "mat" arrived. It was a 6"x6" box containing......nothing more than a long, thin piece of sticky paper with a removable backing. No rubber, no mat.
A few stoners working at Sager, methinks!

Well, at least they made an attempt to do something for you out of the normal line of fixes.
