    Hello every one

Is it normal or am i doing something wrong here.
when playing a game say pop when on power i get a decent 30 fps (game maxed out) but when i remove the laptop frm ac power the frame rate is below 1 fps and it even takes me 2-3 minutes just to come out of the game

Also i am unable to play a HD video when on battery.

Is it supposed to happen. I am running on high performance mode even when on battery.

Cant the battery support the 65w 9800gt gfx card??

Do i need to change any settings.

    Some one pls help

Thats how it is with gaming notebooks. Its very normal.

The CPU/videocard is downclocked while its on battery... which is a low level setting.

You can bypass the downclocks of the CPU and videocard by modifying the clocks by using programs like RMclock for CPU, and RivaTuner or modified Nvidia drivers (where the Powermizer settings are set to max performance at all times, or is disabled in the registry).

Would not help much though since you will have to plug back in to AC power when you realize by forcing full performance of the CPU and GPU to play games will only give you about 30-45 minutes of game time.

I really dont want to play games on battery but i would atleat like to watch a HD movie.

This is really annoying when i have to close my game when there is a powerfailure (those are very common where i live) save the game come to desktop the switch over to may be powersaver mode so that the battery can be saved.
In high performance mode i wanna be able to play game even on batter even if its for 20-30mins. Hope what i typed makes sense :)

if you want to watch HD videos, its easy, just make sure your CPU can throttle to full speed, and the videocard at max performance (in Powermizer).

I watch HD vids on battery sometimes, I used RMclock to control my CPU's throttling... and disabled Powermizer settings (with registry edits)

There is a problem watching HD footage on battery? Nah, something is wrong there. I watch HD video and movies just fine on this system.

Check and make sure you have the latest graphics drivers from Nvidia.

Might be a graphics driver issue for being unable to play HD content. Which driver are you using?

And as for gaming on battery... yea, keep dreaming. You can play old games on battery. My friend played KOTOR in a car for about an hour. Not bad. Something to kill an hour :p

By gaming on battery i mean i wanna be able to close the game when there is a power failure (where i am forced to run on battery suddenly) instead of having an abruptly hung up system in the middle of say a bossfight or something.

FYI- Where i live we have power failure every hr or so!

I have dropped frames in hd videos when running on battery
I am using nvidia 185v driver on win 7

Those 185.xx series drivers are alpha. Highly unstable, at least it was for me. Many bluescreens. I would get 182.05 optimized by Dox. Great driver so far. Make sure you do a clean install as well. Uninstall, use Driver Sweeper, install new drivers. That will ensure no clashing between different driver versions, and no serious errors.

And okay I didn't know about the power failure part. You should disable PowerMizer in the Nvidia Control Panel, then see what happens the next time the power gives out. One time when my power went out during a snow storm, GTA4 kept going at a decent rate despite the FPS clearly showing a major decline. It went from about high 30s to upper teens. It was enough to scramble to a save point, save the game, and exit the game. I'm on an NP9262 though. Your experience may vary.

    2 possible reasons: win7 and 185.

    try to install 182.08

Try using Nvidia official latest drivers. I am able to run games on battery (yes, slower, but not 1-2 FPS worth) and I can view HD content as if it were a regular video file.

I used to have major problems when I used those 'hacked' drivers.

If you really wanted to, you could tone down ALL of the graphics settings to absolute minimum. You might be able to squeeze more out of it, but it most certainly wouldn't hit an hour of play time.

Have you checked if it's actually running at 0.925V with cpuz/everest, as my x9000 seemed to run at a minimum of 1V whatever I set lower than that

here it is...consider that all report 37°C instead of coretemp reporting 43°..
I think it's all in the activating of "thermal monitor" and "P-state @ startup" in RMClock...
