I can't seem to get the AMD drivers/application to install properly. Did a fresh Win8 install on a partition, and downloaded the driver install from Sager's dropbox account. When I try to open Catalyst I get "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center."

Anyone else have this issue, and a fix? Device Manager shows no issues.

Hummm typically when I see that issue with control center it's because .net framework isn't installed.

    Try installing .net 4.5

Nope, .net 4.5 is on Win 8 by default. I don't know why he's trying to install that rather than the 12.11 beta.

Because I tried the beta first, and it failed to complete installation. Screen went black partway through and stayed that way. I had to do a forced shutdown. When I started back up, Device Manager showed drivers were there, but there was no Catalyst Center, and games weren't utilizing the 7970m at all. None of the games or programs I use were hindered by the under-utilization issues, so I was looking for a stable install that would just work. But so far, no luck. The only suggestion I've found in my searching so far has indicated to reinstall windows. It may come to that, but I was hoping not.

I have the same notebook (p150em) with the same graphics card (7970m) and also got this message!
It's after i installed a fresh AMD driver. It worked fine for like 5 reboots. After installing Bitdefender and/or because i installed Kaspersky (and uninstalled and switched to bitdefender) it doens'nt work now anymore!

Oh, Sorry for the double post. But i didn't see this message. It's getting more interesting by the minute. I have had the exact same thing as you did! Black screen, nothing happened (did it twice and the second time gave a BSOD).
    Fix:
    1. Install Driver Fusion
    2. Uninstall Drivers AMD & Drivers Intel Graphics with Driver Fusion
    3. Reboot
    4. Install AMD & Intel Graphics again freshly (i used DVD came with clevo)
    5. Worked for me, but Catalyst wont start anymore just like you describe!

I've somewhat fixed my issue. I did the Win8 "Refresh", and then first thing installed the Beta drivers before reinstalling anything else. Catalyst still doesn't really work right, but it does now seem to be using the dedicated graphics when I play Minecraft (vast performance improvement from before). I'm calling it good enough and leaving it alone until they have a non-beta release of the driver update.
