Ugh have spent the last 5 hours trying to figure out how to install the catalyst 13.1 on my new laptop and am now ready to throw it at the wall lol. I'm pretty terrible with PC's but I didn't think it would be this difficult. Anyway, I cleaned out my previous driver and then tried installing the new one.

Install says it finished but there's nothing there...no new driver and no catalyst centre...hell there doesn't seem to be any trace of any AMD card now :/

Can anyone help me? Or give me a step by step guide of what I have to do?

    thanks.

Have you installed Intel HD graphics driver ?. if so , I hope you don't have ver 15.3 because it causing issues with conflicting amd driver , and not making detection, so I suggest you install older driver. Furthermore, make sure you install ati calatyst mobility not the desktop driver. Some people installed the desktop driver and as expected they had problems. Before everything , un -install Intel HD graphics , your current driver , download driver fusion , go to safe mode , select clear intel and amd display(Warning do not select clear chipset). Now run your intel hd graphics driver installation , reboot , install amd mobility driver.

P.s did you install Intel chipset driver(different from intel hd graphics driver) ? . Because you need to identify your chipset to the OS ,otherwise your system wont detect your intel graphics properly .

for older intel graphics driver that works with amd for now (v 15.29) :

if you bought from overclockers then this would have all been done for you unless you didnt have a operating system loaded.

from new you dont need to update as it will have the latest drivers loaded. oh well, too late now :)

So I assumed they did everything for ya, but you did not know, and now you messed up ,lol . its ok , follow what I said , install intel chipset driver from website , here:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Se...on+Utility&ProdId=816&LineId=1090&FamilyId=42

then install the intel hd graphics the version that I posted above . Then download amd mobility driver , here is the link (Choose mobility that is compatible with your system
    AMD Catalyst 13.1 (9.012.0 December 19) AMD Official WHQL - Guru3D.com Forums

Do you know X64 and X86 (64bit and 32 bit)?. Because choosing the right one will make sure you installing the correct driver.

No it does not say that it says something which is irrelevant . the only way you cant tell is the file name of set-up mobility when you install it so when you download this file for example it should says that 13-1_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe . Also make sure you have latest microsoft net framework because catalyst won't work without them.

here the latest version of net framework

Download .NET Framework 4.5 from Official Microsoft Download Center

Ok i've done everything you said and I think it works. Only thing im wondering about is why Crysis 1 isnt working. It ends up freezing on the startup screen.

oh and windows media player isn't working either for some reason :(

I don't think this is related to amd or something else. My theory would you are running Crysis on intel with highest setting which causing it to takes time to load which made yout hink its freezing. press right click on mouse on desktop and go to configure switchable graphics and you will see a amd panel . This panel set the programs to use either amd gpu or intel gpu. For example , if you have a game on the list in this panel , you might want to set it to high performance mode because you want to use amd gpu. on the other hand for example programs like browsers like IE , mozilla , chrome set their powers to power saving because you don't need amd gpu to do work on simple browsing and thus finishing your battery life fast. Some of the programs will be detected automatically and shows on the list while others you need to add manually by pressing add application(find their installation path and select their exe). as for media player , download vlc and see if its giving you errors.
