I happened to drop my laptop on the floor earlier today.![]()

Everything ran fine except just now when i started a game, after 3 mins, the computer automatically shuts off.
I turned on again, get back to the game, but this time after 15 sec it shuts off again!
I don't know if this relates to the dropping but my fan today been going crazy.
Loud for a few sec then normal for a few sec, it goes on and off.
Oh, this is so heartbreaking![]()

Are those things relevant?

First thing that comes to my mind is the heatsink on the cpu or gpu is no longer secure or out of place. That would explain why the fans are going crazy as they are trying to cool those and also would explain the sudden shut down for thermal protection. The computer will shut itself off if the cpu/gpu reach a designated temp to prevent damage. Open the bottom of the computer and check the heatsinks. You will also need to reapply thermal compound if they did got knocked loose.

Thank you so much for your response.
Greatest nightmare of mine would be hardware inside could be broken and is that possible in this case?
Heatsink? Is it under the fan? or near the vent?
After i dropped, (i am using a Sager NP 8130) the cover right below(back of the laptop) the mousepad pops out(the end without the screws). So i unscrewed and put it back on. And i might as well clean the dust of the fan so i touched that much.
Sorry if i dont get all the terms right.

as hutsady said it could be as easy as reseating the heatsinks ane reapplying paste so dont panic yet.
just grab the manual and see how these things are done. it will take you just 5-10 minutes to do it, or even less if youve done it before. -
I wouldn't even bother trying to see what your temps are. The side effects are rather conclusive. Please don't use your laptop until this is fixed. -
Also make sure to check the RAM modules are still seated correctly. Not necessarily causing your symptoms but I've seen the modules come out of place on the NP series with much less than a drop.
Also, if you have any problems identifying things, the user manual has pictures and instructions on dissasembly. It can be found at various places on the forum, but I usually go to http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download.asp and grab the latest one. Not that they change often... -
Hey,
Today i went to the store and got alcohol, cotton swap, thermal paste and dust gaser.
I unscrewed the fan on the Left and cleaned out the old thermal paste on the CPU/GPU(i dont know know what it is but my model is Lotus P151HM1). I reapply a new paste.
I tried to do the same for the fan on the right, but it seemed to be stuck onto the CPU/GPU, so i just left it and did nothing because i think it is glued.
I turned on the computer and started the same game and it works fine, my computer did not shut down.
Now the problem still would be the fan, it seems to be coming from the right (the one i didnt fix). It goes on loud for a few second and goes back to normal sound for a few second. Should i go back to fix it, but it seems to be stuck, and is that normal?
I am also afraid there might be some other hidden problems. My computer start up is a quite a bit slower than usual.
Also for the user manual, it is clevo and is Lotus P151HM1 in there? -
Yeah, click the link and drop down menu to find the P15x HM manual. That one covers your model.

The fan on the right is probably not glued down but just feels like it because the thermal paste could be hard. I've had that happen with a few computers i've worked on. What i found helps is to use the computer for a few minutes to warm up the paste as it could be easier to remove. Be very careful when removing it as the components will now be warm/hot and if the thermal paste doesnt want to give you could end up bending pins.

Ok Thanks,
But, i dont understand, i checked the temperature. GPU went up from 80c to 90c while gaming.
Yet CPU seems to be cool under 60C while gaming. But it is the fan on the right that makes the noises while running (normally)? -

Thats normal, the GPU is always about 30C more then the CPU, its made to handle it. Those temps look great. Glad to hear you got it all fixed up.
A noisy fan could actually mean it was damaged when you dropped it, you might need to order a new one of those which your reseller could prob help you out there. -
Hey, thank you so much!!
I am contacting my reseller at the moment. I hope i can get fans replacement.
