Okay, first things first. I didn't know if this should be in the Hardware forum or the Sager forum.

    1. If I dual boot, with Win XP and Vista can I install a game to the same location for both machines to save room? And yes, I have 2 copy's of the said game. I.e. in XP install BF 2142 to my C drive then in Vista install BF 2142 to the same spot in my C drive? Will there be problems and will this allow me to save HD space?

    2. Can I setup a RAID with 25GB for XP and 25GB for Vista from one HDD, then use 2 other HDD for programs? in RAID 0. I.e. I'm thinking about getting a 64GB SSD for use by the OS's and then using 2 of my Hitachi 200GB drives in RAID 0 for programs for both Os's.

    3. Can I setup different partitions with the D901C RAID controler and have different strip sizes for each partition?

Thanks guys for any advice, I'm so new to working with RAID.

    1. This will cause problems with most games. It might be possible to get some games to work with some registry tweaking and configuration file swapping. It is up to you to decide if the work will be worth it. (If you just install to the same place and find a program to diff the files in the directory, figuring out the files to swap might not be that bad...)

    2. I believe it should be possible to leave 1 HDD out of the RAID array. Then again, I opted for the "lesser" M5790RU without RAID options, so I can't go check. Check your manual for instructions.

    3. I believe the D901C raid controller is offering a fakeraid interface, in which case it would be at the drive level only. Any operating system with the correct driver installed should see only 1 drive for any given RAID array. As such, what you are suggesting is incoherent. You can partition a RAID-ed drive however you like.

    1. That will couse problems for instance with COD. You will need to reconfigura COD every time you change OS's

    2. I'm not sure if RAID 0 needs to be primary or not. But yes you can have one extra HDD without the need for it to be in the Array.

    3. You can setup different partitions on the array. I'm not sure about the different strip sizes thought.
