Just out of curiosity, anyone know if the current D901C will support the new E6850 processor?

This new CPU is 65W and has a 1333 FSB (instead of 1066), and runs at 3GHz.

Looks pretty stout and actually beats a Qx6700 quad core in many tests:

Considering that a new motherboard is coming out soon to support a processor that was out months ago, I wouldn't count on it. At the very least wait for someone to test it before buying it. I believe that it would be downclocked proportionally to the FSB in the best case, in which case in would run at less than 3 GHz.

Even if the E6850 CPU would work, it uses a 9x with a 333 mhz fsb to reach 3ghz rating [9x333=2997, which yields 2.997 ghz]. As our fsb is locked at 266, the math works as 9x266=2394, or 2.394 ghz.

No if you had a Q6850 - not a QX6850 which is 130w, but a Q6850 that was rated 65w, and it booted and you settled for 2.4 ghz CPU speed, still with me - good, you could get the little benefit of a slow quad.

It still boils down to modding the fsb or the CPU modifier to really get somewhere with this Laptop. I'm sure that eventually an answer will be available out there for unlocking the beast....
