    Hello everyone,

For the Intel Core i7 8700k

I was just curious to see what results people were able to obtain for a stable 24/7 operational overclock was and what your temps were.

Another question was, did you leave the CPU Voltage on "Auto" or did you actually set a value, and if so what was your value? I know every CPU is different and I am not going to use your posted value, but I am just looking for context for comparison.

I was able to bump the multi up to 49 and ran for hours over the weekend playing games and CPU temp never went above 62'C "Fans on MAX".

Thanks for giving me something to compare to!

    EDIT: 6/6/2018
I finally found some time and was able to get around and tweak the system.

I was able to get stable a 5ghz overclock with -60mV undervolt :)

Temps only got up to 82'C at 100% load Prime95 stress test. Played for a few days at 5ghz in Bless Online fully maxed out, and using on a daily basis and temps under normal gaming / development never go above 60'C with fan on auto.

After playing Bless Online for hours, my temps were amazing the whole time. No frame-rate stutter, just nice and smooth all maxed out.

This screenshot was taken after Hours of play at max settings. On the left side of the graph, you can see when it was in use with the game open and on the right after I let it sit idle in windows for a min to have contrast 'left to right'.

Sorry I should have mentioned that in the original post.

Your CPU Voltage at 4.8GHZ was 1.369. Did you set it to AUTO? Have you attempted to adjust the voltage manually?

I do have a behavioral question. If you set the CPU Voltage to lets say 1.4v, and the CPU has no load to deal with and is running at 3.7GHZ, will it still run at 1.4v? Or will it actually only go up to that as a MAX when turbo kicks in and it ramps up to 4.8GHZ.

I set the voltage to -120mv adaptive.

In the BIOS can you take a picture of this entry? I do not see an "Adaptive" option you are mentioning. It was either Auto or some other value which essentially was "manual". And then you entered the voltage value was 0 - 2000 in mv of course.

My laptop is sent in for screen warranty so I won't have it back until 2 weeks.

Pardon the tiny text in the image. I had made a note about my undervolt setting. (Note: This is the Prema bios)

To undervolt, make sure Offset prefix is set to - then set the Voltage Offset number. When I got to 200 I got a Bluescreen in Windows (WHEA error or something), so I backed it off until it was stable again.

-150mv is very good for 4.8GHz. I can only do about -120mv. -130 will get me BSOD.

I may be able to find something between 150 and 200 but when the temps started hitting appropriate high/low numbers I quit fiddling with it. It's nice to have so many bios options :)

I am going for 5ghz rather than 4.8ghz since my temps are so good.

Just remember the voltages will really start ramping up so temps will as well.

Also remember adaptive voltages can be set at different levels at stock depending on binning so offsets may result in different final values.

So I have been noticing that sometimes when I boot the laptop up, that its not actually applying the overclocking changes.

I have not been able to reproduce this on demand but I have notice it happening from cold-boot "where the computer had been off for some time and I come back to it and power it up". I only ever encountered this problem AFTER having Installed Intel's XTU. I was going to use intels XTU for stress testing but when I clicked "start" it simply wouldnt do anything. So I uninstalled it and since then have noticed this bug.

Now I don't know if its related to having Installed / Uninstalled intels xtu or maybe its placebo. Anyways, thought I would share.

Updated original Post with new screenshot of temps from hours of gaming.
