Yup, can confirm it does have TB3 - well our one does anyway....
. It's just the updated version of the N130BU, with new CPUs. If anyone has questions just ask me, we're offering it as the same Schenker SLIM 13 model as the N130 but with 8 series CPUs ;-) Oh and as per usual, there is an N130 and N131 chassis available. -

We have had this little guy out for a while
The TB port is 4x lane connected -
I will likely jump into the eGPU rabbit hole with this laptop.
Off to the eGPU threads I go -

The Akitio Node seems popular.Last edited: Jan 19, 2018 -
There are many reviews of egpus
here a list of egpus

may be an aorus gaming box gtx1070 or an akitio node -

It's fun, but any box I got would have to be able to fit a full water cooling loop.

So for this Ultrabook is excellent. I had no idea it has a SIM card slot. Anyone want to to clarify its function and capability?
Not a great deal of information on these out in the wild yet...
I cannot believe how crystal clear this QHD panel is! WOW!sicily428 likes this. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It is a factory option so check with your supplier before ordering regarding it being there or not.
-
I have it in my possession. Would that slot still exist if the hardware inside didn’t exist?
I ordered it from the link in the original post. There aren’t really any options with this thing and when I called them it seems to just come dressed to the max. -
Thanks guys!sicily428 likes this. -
Yo post some pics!
This is an interesting model, it's Clevo right? Just wish it didn't have a 3200x1800 display. -

Nice, glad to hear everything is in place for the SIM, most people do tend to tether but if you want it to be on a different contract or put separate limits on it then it makes it easier.

$720 shipped for that Eluktronics with 120gb ssd and 8gb ram, that's not bad.
Which CPU dos the Eluktronics have?
Assuming they're not a @Prema partner.Last edited: Jan 27, 2018 -

I don't think he intends to do a mod for the model anyway due to the different target market.

100% brightness, no power savings stuff (balanced) with usual surfing is normally how I rate mine. -
Unplugged without adjusting anything (i'm using it that way as I type this) is about 4 to 4.5 hours. That included 90 minutes of Skype and video watching.sicily428 likes this. -
I get up to 4 hours on my M18x with 70% brightness. So I'm assuming the N131WU would get around 4-5 hours for me.
What's the model of the display? -
Unplugged it sits at 40% brightness. But that's apples to oranges unless every panel ever made has the same nit number. Still, 40% might not be enough for you -
The only real complaint I have is the battery. Could Clevo remove the 2.5" storage and extend the battery over? I'm on the fence about this. I actually prefer the way I have it but I think the majority would enjoy longer battery life and just one large m.2 storage.
Your thoughts?

Damn, really wishing they didn't include that 2.5" bay and chose a bigger battery. Would have been almost perfect.
sicily428 likes this. -
It comes down to demand - same with other chassis, the demand from system integrators and resellers for a 2.5" bay in this chassis will be high enough that it over-rules the larger battery option.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The niche it targets is a higher performance and build without breaking the bank and larger battery packs add to the cost.
-
I’m not sure it that’s something you guys can suggest or it’s a straight Clevo choice.
Have these been selling well on your end guys?
Eluktronics said they have sold about 8 when I spoke with them last week.
Nobody really knows this exists in the States it seems.alaskajoel and sicily428 like this. -
What I meant about demand is that Clevo take feedback from some integrators and resellers before production (dpeneds on their size and if they're direct Clevo customers or not), definitely between revisions of chassis. For example, if we say that we want the N131 to have no 2.5" bay and instead a larger battery - vs the N130, then yes it's possible that Clevo will work on that - but it depends on how many other companies ask Clevo for the same thing. As it's currently not available with a larger battery and no 2.5", the weight of demand that Clevo's direct customers have given them, though perhaps contuary to our feedback, is on keeping the 2.5".
Then there are other instances where a larger battery was available in a chassis, which used the 2.5" space - but that requires recertification for the chassis with larger battery. It sounds simple in theory, but there's a lot more to even just the redesign and battery sourcing than there seems to be...B0B likes this. -
Having two separate models, one with 2.5" and one with larger battery would be awesome. But like you said, how many customers actually want that to how many will buy it without the bigger battery might not be enough to justify it to Clevo.
B0B likes this. -
For no other reason than I am confident that my viewers would have preferred that version.
I already have a few people that have contacted Eluktronics asking if a larger battery version can be made available.
It ticks all the right boxes that you can’t get anywhere else. But the small battery is the achilles’ heel.
With that said, I absolutely love it. I burn through hardware and move on. I’ll be keeping this for awhileLast edited: Feb 1, 2018 -
I got mine a week ago. So far I'm happy almost with everything. The small battery was a known tradeoff.
B0B: Have you noticed a some kind of auto brightness adjustment feature? An examle is when whole screen is white (for example notepad) and you open windows start menu. There is a short "flash", change of brightness of the white screen - focus on the white, not on the start menu.
Also, I feeled wierd eye strain today and I'm scared if the display isn't PWM flickering. But I tested the screen with smartphone camera and this https://www.testufo.com/blurtrail, and didn't find any flickering. -
Zero eye strain and I have probably 50 hours on this.
I haven’t noticed any brightness changes either. But I will do some further testing to see if I can replicate that.
I love this! I just spent the last hour in Premier. It’s a pleasure -
I can't say enough great about this laptop! I have used this to death and it has been a joy to use and look at!
BUT!! The battery life, while more than suitable for me, i'm not a student and I can see how the option for a larger battery, forgoing the 2.5" storage solution would hands down make this THE go-to ultrabook PERIOD.
The review I made on this unit shows the viewers and their comments, find this ultimately perfect minus the battery life. This opinion will only grow in size as the video ages.
While I have spent a great deal of time on my end to improve this, it's getting to a point in which the typical consumer would find these adjustments annoying. Plug and play is always key, always.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this laptop for what it is and what it can evolve into. The tiny battery is the ONLY genuine "issue".
I say it in quotes as "issue" because I have a hunch those responsible for the final draft of these laptops are probably my age+ and if I were to build my personal "perfect" ultrabook based on what we have today, this is what it would end up looking like.
But the market doesn't always reflect what people in their 30's need/want. -
I was very happy with getting four hours of battery from my massive M18x in school today.
If only the N131WU could get 7 hours or so it would be a great alternative for me. I have a Samsung 940X3G at home that needs a new keyboard. I feel like my M18x still gets better battery life than that one.B0B likes this. -
Do you know where to source similar laptop (i7-8550u, QHD, TB3, no RAM, no HDD, no wireless card) from EU reseller for reasonable price?

Has anybody installed Windows 7 on this "puppy"?
I have read about modifying .inf file from Intel graphics driver, integrating USB and NVMe drivers to the installer disk. But I don't know about other drivers - most importantly LAN and WiFi. Can it be done in a similar way as Intel graphics?
I don't care that much about Windows Update because since introduction of "cumulative updates", I stopped installing them anyway. -
Funny story - I was on the ICE train to Berlin on Tuesday and the mother and daughter sat in the seat behind me came over and started asking all about the laptop, what model it was, where it was available. Turned into a funny conversation when I said that I work for the company!!!! But the laptop does look good.
P.S. @sicily428 - I don't know them, but you linked to clevo-systems - AFAIK the're on Clevo's list of unauthorised websites because they have no affiliation with Clevo.Last edited: Apr 8, 2018sicily428 likes this. -
Hi Everyone. We're looking for a portable laptop for the office and this is one of the top candidates.
We just would like to know if this laptop has the flexicharger option. I'm not sure how it works on clevos, but in others the laptop charges the battery up to a certain point (60-80% usually) and then uses the power from the power supply. Is that the case with flexicharger or it uses the battery all the time and the power supply just charges the battery? (so it's constantly being charged and discharged).
If it doesn't have the flexicharger option, is it "safe" to leave it almost all the time plugged in? I know it's not going to explode, but the battery degrades quicker at higher voltages. I had an Asus and the battery stopped working after one year because of this... But we have Mid 2012 MacBook Pro now (this would be the replacement) and the battery monitor says it has the 82% of the initial capacity being almost all the time connected to the power supply, so not bad. If this is the case with the N131WU, it would be acceptable.
Thank you! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No, it does not have that feature. You can leave it plugged in it does have management features to conserve life by not over charging.
They can be easily replaced if needed in future.javigh likes this.
