I am planning on buying a notebook by early September for an international trip I'd take at that time. I just like to scope out websites to see what's on offer since I've been out of the laptop scene for a long time. So I was checking on XoticPC's website just now and saw this image.

If only God of War was coming to the PC platform. :p

I also wonder if this is an error. Currently on the NP8150, upgrading from the stock GTX 560m to the 485m is only a $145 difference, that's the lowest I've seen among several Sager/Clevo resellers.

It's not a mistake. I don't know about Xotic but Malibal is giving the same offer but that offer ends on Monday, Malibal said that in someone's thread.

Also the God of War Thing, its just adds to the aesthetics of the site. If they actually wanted you to think it was gameplay, they would just post gameplay.

I don't know, I personally can't agree with advertising a gaming machine with imagery from a popular game that CAN'T be played on that machine.

The question I have to ask you is, does it really bother you? Is it really that bad?

No one looks at an advertisement of a laptop and goes, I really want to play THAT game.

Maybe its not even false advertisement, the laptop has the ability to play the God of War trailer. Or a PS2 emulator. Trololololo

Why? I can't find that image on MSI's page, and the image is the same style as several other images from several other manufacturers on XoticPC's page (layout, background, etc). So the image appears to be from XoticPC, not MSI.

But the question remains, is this actually worth your time to pursue? The disclaimer image may no be exactly as shown exists for a reason, who cares what game it's from.....I don't know about you, but I've got better things to do then troll forums calling out a tiny boutique notebook reseller for use of a PS3 image on a laptop. Let it go.

Worth my time to pursue? I haven't declared jihad; I wrote three sentences on the matter. I might as well ask why it's worth your time to defend.

Nobody here is saying that Xotic PC is a bad company or a dishonest company. But even good people and good companies have foot-in-mouth moments from time to time. I thought this one was worth a brief comment because:

    (1) It made me laugh.

    (2) It probably could be considered misleading advertising (gamers themselves wouldn't be mislead, but what about the parent of a GoW-loving gamer trying to find him a Christmas present?).

    (3) It's almost certainly a trademark violation (unless they licensed Kratos's image, and why would you spend big bucks to do that to advertise a machine that can't run God of War games?).

    (4) It made me laugh.
