Hello everyone,
After the Windows 10 upgrade, everything seems to be fine, but except on the Ethernet part. It would disconnect after using the internet for a while, making me to use my wifi as a backup. I tried reinstalling the drivers, it doesn't seem to work either.
The only temporary fix I can do so far is by re plugging the Ethernet cable, and it's pretty annoying to do that every single time. What can I do to fix this problem? Thanks.

You can try searching for drivers from the chip vendor.

Have you tried a different port on the modem/router, or using a different cable? It's always worth checking to see if you can rule out those as an issue.

Disable the Windows automatic driver downloads per the update settings and try the driver directly from the chip vendor as Meaker suggested. Testing other ports and another cable is a fair suggestion as well; upgrading to Windows 10 could be completely irrespective of the underlying issue.

Um, I went to programs and features and did a repair on the Ethernet driver app, and it seems to be working now. Thanks for the help however.

Ah if you did not totally remove all the software then the re-install may have skipped parts and left damage software.

It seems like it's not working again, and I have tried two Ethernet cables (all CAT 5e) on the laptop, nothing happens either. It works perfectly on my Windows 7 Desktop on Ethernet, but not on my P650SG on Windows 10. So I assume that it's not the router's problem.
Does anyone know where to find the latest Ethernet driver from Realtek for my specific laptop? -
Try these.

8.1 drivers should work fine. The LAN is one of the drivers they don't have up for Windows 10 for your machine. -
It's strange that I downloaded Windows 10 LAN drivers from Eurocom, and it doesn't work fully. Let's me see if Windows 8.1 drivers will work better. Thanks.Ethrem likes this.

One nice thing about Windows 10 is that it seems to be compatible with old Windows 8.1 drivers a lot of the time. I mean I upgraded my desktop to Windows 10 and even all my ASUS drivers for controlling fans and such work perfectly fine... Ironically they actually work better in 10 than they did in 8.1 now that I think about it.

Looks like it doesn't work again. I tried going back to Windows 10 drivers, disabled Energy Efficient and Green Ethernet, doesn't seem to help either. This is getting frustrating... The only temporary solution is to re plug the Ethernet cable back and forth once it disconnects.

What is the Device ID in the device manager?
-
I am not sure Device ID as in Hardware ID, since I can't find Device ID on the Realtek LAN in the device Manager.
But here's the Hardware ID (if it's the wrong one, tell me and I will fix it):
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_65551558&REV_12
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_65551558
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_0200 -
Nope that's what I needed. Give me a little bit

Download the driver here for Windows 10: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...n=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true
Next disable automatic driver updates - http://m.winsupersite.com/windows-10/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10
Fully uninstall the drivers in the add/remove programs if there is an option there, reboot, go into device manager and uninstall the adapter along with the option checked to delete the driver, disable your WiFi and disconnect your ethernet cable so Windows can't get online, reboot again and verify that the adapter is gone. Install those drivers you downloaded, reboot again, plug in your ethernet cable and see if you still have the issue. -
Excuse me... These drivers.

I was looking at those drivers at the Realtek's website, but I wasn't sure if they were compatible at first. I did everything as you told, except that Windows keep reinstalling the Realtek Ethernet driver back even if I disable automatic driver updates. I installed the Windows 10 drivers from Realtek, and so far everything seems stable.
I will give it an additional day to see if there's any random disconnects again... hopefully not. If nothing wrong happens, I will be enjoying my college internet in my dorm soon! Thanks for all the help so far Ethrem.Ethrem likes this. -
If you ever have problems with a driver, look up the hardware IDs and go to Google and type vendor (first 4 characters) then type the last four characters. In this case I put it "vendor 01ec 8186" to get the model number as a Linux dump. It came up as Realtek 8168, found the drivers.
Its a trick I picked up from my Linux days. You can also just go to this site directly -

The Realtek drivers almost always work better than the Windows drivers.ipwn3r456 and i_pk_pjers_i like this. -
Thanks for the tip, I will remember that the next time I have driver problems. It seems like no random disconnects have been going on for the past day or two, so I guess it should be working now. Thanks again Ethrem for the help.Ethrem likes this.
