Just remember it won't be shipping this month. Maybe in April sometime.
-
Why so long huh?
-
eurocom have the knack of advertising way way in advance to try beat the competition and get the brownie points but then they are way down the food chain when it comes to first deliverys.
-
Cool. I hardly wait to get one, though I do not care about the multiplier so much (2.66 GHz is enough for me). Together with the nvidia card is a supercomputing monster packed on a portable workstation!!!!!!!
-
How heavy is the D900F? im not a fan of its chuncky looks.

That's.... kinda crazy.
-
Start believing it after more (respectful) resellers offer it.
Though it should fit the X58 mobo and have the same 130W TDP (idles at 12W!). Should be even lighter than the 975.
The downside is that it has far lower OC'ing potential than the 975. You probably don't even need to OC it since the turbo will hit 3.6GHZ.
So rejoice the system bottlenecked by the GPU -
This is good news.. I was worried that the d900f would not support.

complete overkill = complete awesome

Not exactly the most mobile laptop -
"Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!"
Dr. Clevonstein has done it again.
Quite impressive, this new Clevo makes my "Ol' Rusty" look small in comparison... *pats her laptop*
It makes me wonder just how hot is it going to run, even on idle temps, and how much power is this monster going to draw in total.
The processing power expectancy just blew me away, eyes wide-open, I had not really expected to see Intel Gulftown on a laptop for a while, especially after Clevo releasing the D900F.
I had not been this impressed since I read about the Clevo D900C / D901C for the first time, that sums it up pretty much, this beast will rip through rendering like a hot knife through a butter bar.
The graphics solution does not sound that good at all, but I guess that we will see when the final specifications are released, I just hope that it is not just another G92-Based card re-brand. (Not saying that G92 is bad, it knows how to hold its ground pretty well, even 2 years from its initial release, plus, it is a very good Overclocker.)
As far as weight is concerned, I think that it won't be lighter than 12 pounds, considering how much Clevo's current D900 chassis weighs; wishfully thinking, if they could do something about the weight, it would be really appreciated by the consumer I am willing to bet.
"Workstation Desktop?, no thanks!, I am carrying my Workstation with me right now, it is inside of my bag." -

Also consider the 1 year old platform + MXM 3.0b, both will disappear when Sandy Bridge hits along with the new MXM standard.
ATI 5870 or GTX 285M is probably your last upgrade on the MXM 3.0b.
So even though 6 cores sounds intriguing, I'll wait til SB and mobile Fermi. -
And probably will be the same as the 975 at max.
-
I dont think that MXM 3.0b will dbe gone soon.
Somebody here said that last MXM had beed here about 3 years
and this one is gonna last at lease 12-24 months. I second that... -
The new MXM was presented at CeBit (behind closed doors) and also I got an email from the MXM org regarding the new type being prepped for the Sandy Bridge. I have very little doubts about it now.
-
I just want 3 mp webcams to start coming out on every laptop already!!

Up until now you could only play with the ES 980X and that would mean very little.
Guys @benchmarkreviews and anandtech did those tests and were not too happy. They broke 4GHZ but couldn't hit 5 (that could easily be done with the 975). Now, keep in mind the limited OC'ing options in the D900F (air cooling won't help much either).
I'm not saying you need it with the 3.6 turbo but still the headroom is lower than with the Bloomfields IMO. -

I'm only talking about overclocking on desktop platforms, not laptop platforms.
Bit-tech.net review:
"However, while the i7-975 was merely a very good overclocker - it only overclocked by 200-300MHz more than a standard Core i7 - the i7-980X has an ace up its sleeve: its 32nm transistors. These smaller, faster transistors allowed us not only to overclock the i7-980X to a much higher frequency than the i7-975, but also to use less voltage to do so. The lower the voltage required for an overclock the better, as more voltage means more power to dissipate from the CPU (in the form of heat), and more stress on the motherboard's VRMs."

It looks like AnandTech used AsRock or Intel motherboard, benchmarkreviews used a Gigabyte board. I use ASUS X58 boards, Bit-tech used ASUS P6TD so maybe the ASUS BIOS are more mature? -
Very interesting. 4.4 on air - not too bad
You can probably hit 4 in D900F (dunno why you need it)
But I'm more impressed with the 12W @idle. This could nicely improve the battery life. -
as far as i know also , u can't overclock the CPU in D900F anyways.. so this can't be overclocked... anyways , i was going to buy this but for half the price and great GPU , Asus G73 is a better bargain... wait for me Asus lol... also isn't the i7-980 not comming out till sep so aren't they going to put in ES CPU's or what?
-
Asus has its own issues. For me the weaker cooling system is the deal breaker (try replacing the thermal compound on your 920XM in Asus without voiding the warranty) .
The i7-980X is already on the preorder and will be here in a few weeks. -
We just need the new bios now to drop the gulftown in the current D900F
-
And then I just need to be sure the MXM3.0b can be upgraded to the upcoming version, to pull the trigger.
-
Yea, I always seem to pull the trigger late in the product cycle. I eventually get it right, but it costs me
-
The MXM 3.0b will be the standard for at least an year from now, of that I am 98% sure. So buy with confidence.
-
It will be replaced with a new one along with the Huron River platform. Now, D900F is here for more than a year already, but the chassis is way older. I'd like to wait till the complete refresh: better screen, better design, USB 3.0, SATA 3, newer MXM, SLI/CF, 22nm etc. The CPU is great but that's the only bleeding edge part of the machine. And besides, since AMD is in game with 6-core CPUs this year, the edge won't last as long
-
-
...yes
. But the new system will be upgradeable for 2 years prob.
I have the M17X and it will be sufficient till then, so not in a rush here. If I needed a new system urgently - would go with TP W510. -
Thanks

Yep, that's the one.
