Eurocom M860TU Update!

Good afternoon. I just thought i would let everyone else who has also ordered the M860TU from Eurocom know about the laptops ETA.

I called and spoke to a sales rep, i was informed that the laptops in the "best case senario" will arrive this wednesday and will start shipping next week Wednesday.(they informed me that the shipping was delayed 1 week because of airport security with the Olympics) Also i asked if it will take longer because i ordered the 1920X1200 screen. Fortunately they told me that the shipment will come with both screen so there should be no delay because of that.

So we hopefully will get our laptops next week or the week after. This has its pro's and con's. The obvious con being that we don't get the laptop right away. The pro is that once the reviews come out and if we find out there is any MAJOR problems we can cancel our orders . Anyways, hope this helps everyone who has ordered through Eurocom.

 

well that just sucks big time.

i'm going to have to re-route my shipping to my university instead. Eurocom is taking way too long. I mean, start shipping NEXT wednesday being the best case scenario is not good at all.

 

I have a feeling things are heading that way for everyone who ordered WUXGAs as well...

 

I seriously think that the airport security excuse was unrealistic, because most laptop factories are in southern China, so that they would be shipped from Shanghai or other southern airports instead of Bejin which is in the north.

 

I agree, definitely sounds like an excuse! It's not like they aren't shipping laptop's to North American every day!

My laptop is shipping out from eurocom tomorrow or wednesday and arriving later this week. who did you talk to?

 

I talked to a normal sales rep, i can not remember his name. I usually deal with Ken, but i thought a normal sales rep should know this information.....

Also i did not give him my order number, so he was not giving me a shipping date based from when i ordered...

Please confirm on this thread when you have your shipping confirmation.... i might have to give them another call.

 

I always thought that John Shore gave the most accurate info from Eurocom's side. Maybe you guys should get a clear answer from him.

 

I called Eurocom this morning @ 7:30 Mountain time (August 19/2008) and spoke to Ken. Ken informed me that they had just recieved a shipment this morning and i could call be this afternoon to find out when i can expect to recieve mine etc.

 

I got the same reply as well. I'll make a call tomorrow. Looks like it won't be late after all

 

I'm with Mausimo; talked to John Shore and they said they had gotten the 9800 GT versions. Still delayed on the GTS and ATI version.

 

How did you guys directly reach John?

Just called Eurocom and spoke with Ken (Aug 20/2008 - 9:30 Mountain time). Ken told me my laptop will be shipping today or tommorow !!!

will they be still offering the ATI and GTS?

 

I am in Calgary, and by the looks of it it should get here around next wednesday by ground. By air, it should be monday ish. I ordered on the 9th of Aug and they said that mine should be shipped thursday or friday, so I assume that, since yours is earlier, it should arrive at your doorsteps on tuesday most likely.

It's still in the configs, so I'm guessing so. Best bet is to call them and ask.

 

When I asked about that earlier this week, they said they thought the ATI could be delayed for a few weeks in the 4-6 range while they expected the GTS in 2 weeks.

 

I was just in the Eurocom store location at Ottawa yesterday (Tuesday, August 19th) and was allowed to look at and take hold of the M860TU. They are very nice, but I'm loving my D901C much more!

 

what is the best card to get? GTS or GT?

the GT is being discontinued...

 

The gt has 1/3 more pixel shaders, but people claim the GT is only slightly faster. I don't how accurate that is since the GTS is not out yet as far as I know.

I ordered my notebook yesterday and I went with the GT. I rather spend a tiny bit extra now and have peace of mind. Since the GTX will probably not run on this notebook and the GT will be the fastest card it can have.

But that is just me.

 

Just a little update....

I noticed today that i had not recieved a tracking number via email and my visa didn't get billed. I decided to call Eurocom. I talked to a sales guy and he found out that my laptop is still in production, set to ship tommorow . I hope that it actually does tommorow, seeing as they told me yesterday that it would ship either today or yesterday

Does anyone know if shipping companies ship on weekends?

 

I think they do their long distance shipping stuff on the weekends (like to your local sorting depot) but the local delivery probably won't happen over the weekend. I could be wrong though...

also, anyone else notice how Eurocom just upped their price on the m860tu by $100.....grrrrr

 

Kool, im going to phone whoever it is being shipped through once i find out and tell them ill pick it up, because i live in the boonies . And the delivery guys can never find my house or they just drive by because of all my pitbulls LOL

not a big problem, they price match/price beat

 

I'm waiting for the GTS because benchmarks only show a 1fps difference...

I have yet to recieve my tacking number... They said last week wednesday/thrusday it would ship. Thursday night i phoned and talked to another sales rep. He said that it shows my laptop as still being in production to ship tommorow(friday). It did not ship on Friday, i will give them a call and see what is up on Monday(tommorow).

 

When did you preorder? I preordered on the 9th of Aug. from Eurocom and mine is being postponed to the next batch (2-3weeks from now).

Mine arrived monday (the day I started university) so now I have to wait till the end of the week to pick it up.
I ordered on the 1st it was suppose to be shipped by the 11th but finally shipped on the 22th and arrived the 25th(not bad for a 39$ shipping)

 

Cool, i placed my order on August the 7th. It looks like they are doing a good job seeing that im gunna get mine roughly 7 days behind you lol

Just phoned John again and it seems that mine will be shipped by next monday. Thank god I get it before university really starts (orientation week).

Unfortunately that means I have to get it shipped to Toronto instead of Calgary, meaning I have to pay PST (like $100 more )

 

I had to pay an extra $200 US to have mine shipped directly from Sager.

And I'm still not the first to have mine shipped =(

It is scheduled for tomorrow though so hopefully I'll beat Mausimo. =D Except I'll have to load the OS myself...

 

well, same here, which I believe to be a good thing (why buy another copy of windows when you already have one? Besides, no bloatware )

 

Fo shizz. I spent all week preparing a slipstreamed, unattended XP installation. It totally failed on VMware but I'm hoping it'll be okay on the real thing.

Hehe, no ill win ! i have to load my own OS also.

I havnt got any updates/drivers yet, im actually just grabbing a XP Pro-64 bit from school. Hopefully 64 bit is working as good as i have heard.

 

I thought M$ stopped support for XP64? Or is it just impossible to find drivers for?

Vista seems to be the OS of choice for 64-bit.

And mine is actually scheduled for tomorrow. But I'll be at work =/

 

hmm im going to have to see if i can get the vista 64 bit version from school. I currently have a copy of the vista 32 buisness....

 

Supposedly my laptop is waiting at home for me; will have to install the OS too so we'll see.

WSXGA. Installing Vista. Seems nice. Balances well on my lap. Warm but no problems.

No fan on my power brick? I was looking forward to that...

Got my laptop from Eurocom yesterday. From Ottawa to Vancouver it took just less than a week to ship (Purolator - ground, I think?).

My system is:

- WSXGA
- P8400
- 9800GT 512
- 4GB DDR3 Ram (but running on Vista 32bit, so 2.5GB detected)
- 200GB HD (Hitachi 7200 HTS722020K9SA00)
- Wifi, bluetooth, fingerprint reader
- Powerbrick with no fan (Li Shin Internation Enterprise Corp 0227A20120)

Impressions:

- Stock 3dmark06 scores were 8909 with stock drivers. 8999 with 177.92 drivers - great! I don't really play games that much anymore, but hopefully it can handle Starcraft 2, Fallout 3, and maybe GTA IV.

- The M860TU looks great, pretty solid feel. Actually thinner than what I expected from reading the dimensions. This is because the back is raised quite a bit with rubber stands to improve airflow.

- Nice screen when full brightness. Compared to 13.3'' WXGA, I can see so much more in excel now

- Temperatures are better than expected with all the hype lol.

- For example, my Asus W7J's palmrest was much hotter. After downloading a torrent all night, my HDD idled at 51-52
- After GPU and CPU stress tests like 3dmark06 and Orthos, HDD runs around 54-56 after GPU and CPU stress tests with no laptop cooler (contemplating the Zalman NC2000). ​

- Good speakers (it's all relative I guess... this is compared to my Asus W7J).

- Fan stays pretty quiet during regular use. Copper heatsink + lots of vents + elevated rubber stands.

- Powerbrick is big, but doesn't get too hot (I thought it would since other ac adapter models have fans)
