    $2,190 CAD

The thing about Eurocom is that it allows me to remove useless things such as webcam, bluetooth, expresscard, etc. Not to mention, they have a trade-in-program so I can get 10% from my current old PC. They are also Canadian so the taxes won't be big. With the trade-in-program discount only, I am looking at 1971.00 CAD for this setup.

Could I still get this setup, or more, from xoticPC or powernotebooks for a cheaper price, even with shipping?

Why not call and get quotes from both of those companies?

Edit: I apologize for moving your thread around . . . it is now in the right place.

No you can't even come close. Among other things looks like the US dollar is back on top. I put in your screen, CPU RAM and costs more than yours $2212 US. Add the taxes and well going to cost lots more.

The taxes are the same (you pay the same taxes from both Eurocom and XoticPC), but there might be a smaller cost involved in warranty problems (in case something happens you will have to send you laptop in Canada, not US).
PS: You might want to price check with XoticPC or even PC MicroWorks (since they will probably offer you a discount, while XoticPC may not).

Actually you don't pay the same taxes. If you have Gov/Med/Edu tax or out of province tax its only 5% with Eurocom. As opposed to international shipping + brokerage fees + 13% tax with Xotic, also brokerage fees everytime a repair is needed. Not to mention the 5% discount and trade-in programs for students. Kind of a no brainer for Canadians.

You also have to check the warranty and support. I heard XoticPC are really great and nice. I live in Canada and Im considering buying from XoticPC because its cheaper when I get the webcam, wireless, etc. and there's a 3 year part warranty included.

If you get UPS Express, you don't have to pay brokerage fees. UPS Express cost around the same as UPS Standard + Fees. I think that because Eurocom is based in Ontario, you'll have to pay PST if you live in the province while you would have to pay the PST and GST if it crosses the border.

Ordering the base unit (+wifi, bluetooth, and 9800GT) is priced about right compared to the other options in the States. The upgrades are more expensive, but check to see if they will pricematch as the salesman I dealt with (John or jshore on this forum) was pretty reasonable.

Taxes for me was GST only (5%) as I'm out of Province so basically I only paid for shipping because I got a student discount (5%)

I just compared how much it would cost to ship a laptop to Eurocom in Ontario versus a dealer in the USA (because Im also hesitating between XoticPC and Eurocom for the NP8660). That's $25 to have it shipped in Express (1 bus. day) to Ontario while it's 40$ to NE. in Express (4 bus. days).

For the same price (because of price match), I wouldn't mind to pay more if I can have the 3 years warranty from XoticPC and a friendly customer service (didn't heard any review about Eurocom).

EDIT: Found this on XoticPC website: For Canadian Customers XOTIC PC covers return shipping at our expense during the Warranty period.*

*: 3 Year Labor Warranty coverage requires all repair billings to go through XOTIC PC. Labor is covered for repairs of item failures only not. Labor is not covered for repairs caused by physical or accidental damage. Select Sager models qualify for 3 Day/Canada Return Paid Shipping for Sager Warranties. Please contact XOTIC PC for more information.

So you would just need to do a price match. Still, I think its better for you to get it at Eurcom for the discounts.

Eurocom still charges you the exact same amount in tax as you would pay with Xotic (same percentage). Tax exemption can be used either way. And I don't think you will pay provincial tax with Xotic, since they're not located in any Canadian province, as opposed to Eurocom (stupid Canadian tax, since you already have GST).
You pay brokerage fees only with ground shipping. By choosing USPS Air (or whatever it is called) you will avoid them.
But it's a more viable solution than XoticPC for a Canadian, since in the long term (even if you may pay more, though you can avoid that) it will cost less (if you'll send it for repairs).

    Check HERE.

You can send a webnote to Mr Seiler, probably he will have the 98xx series graphics cards by now.
When I bought my D901C (Eurocom PhantomX equivalent) he had a better price.

I don't think the 570tu is an option at eurocom. It doesn't have the new pynryn cpus or ddr3 memory. Its also cramming the intel memory by bundling it.

ok i live in canada and am looking to get the M570TU (5796). i was looking at xotic pc and my total will come to $2300 before shipping and taxes. i then have to pay shipping, at least 50$ for ground, and GST and PST, which willl be about 2- 250$. we DO NOT need to pay duties on electronics that are passing the border, only GST and PST, but thats still alot. And not to mention the problem of xoticpc being all the way in the states, so if i have a problem, it will take me a while to get it to them and back again. i think eurocom is better, for me and most canadians, is that since i live in ontario, i only have to pay 39$ for shipping and with the GEM ir student discount on tax, i only pay 5% tax, whic is about 100$. so in total, taxes and shipping will be about 150$ :). instead about 250 - 300$ from xoticpc and its an hour away :)

XoticPC may cost less in the start, about 100$ less, in the end without shipping and taxes, it will be alot more then eurocom.

my setup on eurocom will come to about 2400$ but only 36$ shipping. its also alot easier to get my laptop to and from my house to their factory.

i also heard that we can bargain them down to compete with xoticpc.

1 more thing, if you buy with USD currency, you will save some money, since the exchange rates arn't up to date.

so all in all, i think, and i hope canadians agree with me, is that im going to buy the laptop in US currency, exchange my money and buy it with a creditcard. converting the money to US is about 50 - 100$ less and if i can bargain them down about 100$, i can get a great price.

if anyone is planning on talking them down, try and get a deal on the processor, its a whopping $250 for a processor upgrade, compared to xotix pc's 115$ upgrade.

and does anyone know why i cant get vista home premium with this setup from eurocom?

Damn my bad. I doubt I can change though as I will lose the pricing attached to my preorder.

    I called them yesterday.

They don't want to ship a laptop without RAM & a HDD because they use "high quality hardware" :D Other than that well, the 9800M GTS isn't coming for a while also. But they are receiving a couple hundred 9800M GT's next week.

Typical sales people. But ya its kind of hard to get any laptop without RAM or HDD unless they are offering it. And if they do offer it they won't give you much of a discount.

Yeah. They also mentioned to me that they would have the 9800M GT SLI. Is that going to be SLI immediately? It is so tempting considering the price of the 9800 GTX ($700 less for 9800M GT in SLI), and the fact that we know almost nothing about the performance of the 9800M GTX and the date for it in SLI.

    @addbot ;

i havent phoned them, but have heard alot from others. you can bargain them down and buy in US currency in canada. saving you at least 150+. if anyone can prove what i am saying, it would be great. i dont plan on ordering my laptop until about the 3rd week of august.

1 more thing, i now know that if you phone them, they will give you vista premium. and also ask to lower their price on the OS, it could be dropped at least 75$. (its 245$ to get business on this thing)

For my order, I dealt with John ([email protected]) who was pretty fast in answering questions... he did allow me to use USD currency to configure, and on top of that he helped me get a student discount.

I think it gave me the best price overall for my configuration (base + 9800GT, bluetooth, wifi), and also it's in Canada so I don't have to worry about shipping it across the border at any time.

I also dealed with the USD currency while still paying the same amount in CAD, so it's really nice and i've called them and received great informations and was all like said on e-mails I sent to them.

No, actually i've made my order by email for deals set-up and i was not really sure/had the money at that time but when i decided to buy, i've called to see how it goes with them and i've been well responded.
So I gived my credit card number by phone and he personaly did the order. He told me they receive their bunch of parts on Monday 11 and that i might receive mine Friday if im lucky or by the 18/19.

I talked about the canadian/american price differences on the website and told me i could get it in cad at the usd price. (it's the first question I asked them by email)

If anyone needs, The final price for my system is 2457$ CAD with shipping and taxes included.

    Or if you prefer 2175 + 125$ for cpu upgrade + 40 shipping + taxe(5%)

But this price include a bargain for Vista and for the processor upgrade and because I did my first quote on the website when the prices we're not all corrected, i got another kind of bargain (they still keept that price) which is good but I don't know if another canadian would be able to have the exact same deal but still, you can bargain with them and they will drop the price.

Anyway you can at least have the same deal than you can have at Xoticpc or PNB if you show them a quote of one of these resellers (they will match price)
