My sager 2090 from xotic is about a week and a half old and the past couple of days I have noticed my cpu temperatures spiking from an average of around 95-100F to around 130F for no reason on both cores. I've been monitoring my temps from day one with Speedfan and am also using an antec notebook cooler along with artic silver compound. What could be the cause of this?

Are those temperatures when your idling(doing something that is not CPU intensive like surfing the net/Office) and what is your ambient(room) temperature?

130F is only ~54C whichs is acceptable when "idling". If it gets to 100C(210F) then you might want to get worried.

Also monitor your CPU/HDD temps with this guide.

100C and it will have shut down to protect itself. 54C isn't excessive if the notebook is actually doing something. You should probably check to see if one of your programs is having spikes of activity during the temperature rise. The task manager ought to do a decent enough job of telling you what process is working.

I get 75C (roughly 160F) under intense gameplay for long period of time. In idle cput temp is about 50C
    Enviroment temp is 26C~28C

The spikes are when i'm doing non intensive tasks like typing up documents and surfing the internet. The only thing i could theorize that would be causing the spikes would either be a virus or firefox since i know it can be a ram hog at times. I highly doubt I have a virus, though, since I've scanned my computer with multiple anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.

It's been around the mid-80s Fahrenheit lately where I live.

Thanks for the guide and the input, although im running vista 64 bit so riva tuner cant help at the moment.

I took cpu temp under performance speed mode, so that may explain the difference :p

EDIT: after undervolting cpu at multiplier 11x to 1.000v, I got roughly 63C under intese gameplay using RMclock now. Truly amazing.

If You Have A Problem With Temps On Your Sager, Try To Uninstall The Touchpad Software(elantech Driver I Think) And Than Check Your Temps Again Using Notebook Hardware Control Program.

Check if Powermizer is working or not, most modded drivers won't use it and the GPU gets warmer working on 475/400 all the time. Mine idles at 166/100Mhz bringing GPU temp down 3-5°C.
